We challenged chefs of three different skill levels - an amateur, a home cook, and a professional - to make a batch of onion rings. After each of them had presented their crunchy creations, we asked a food scientist to review their work. Which level of onion rings look the most delicious to you?

Check out the level 3 recipe on the ICE blog: www.ice.edu/blog/frank-proto-gluten-free-onion-rin…

For those viewers who correctly noted that beer would make the level 3 recipe not gluten-free, follow Frank's seltzer alternative at 4:38

"This recipe has been passed down for generations... on the internet" almost spit coffee out of my mouth

"This recipe has been passed down form generations, on the internet." "This allows the onion to kind of come to terms with his fate." "And then we're gonna crack our egg. Please don't put no shells in your onion ring. You want it to be crunchy, but not that way." technically the truth "And you want it to be smooth, no chunks. much like what you want in a relationship, just very consistent, very fluid, and easy to get through." "And then we move to infamouse honey barbecue sauce. As a vegetarian, I like to dabble in things that remind me of eating meat. Honey barbecue sauce because it reminds me that I used to eat ribs. And I miss ribs from time to time. That's very personal. SO, now we go to the ranch!" I like this guy! XD
