We challenged chefs of three different skill levels - amateur Emily, home cook Lorenzo, and professional chef King from the Institute of Culinary Education - to make fried rice. After each of them had presented their creation, we asked a food scientist to review their work. Which rice would you ask for twice?

King looks like the evolved form of Lorenzo.
  • @stupidperson9679
Frank isn’t here because he didn’t have time to grow his own rice.
  • Emily sounds like one of those people who talk to themselves a lot 😄 so entertaining

the confidence in Emily's voice when she says she's a level 1 chef is the character development i live for
  • I just gotta say that I love how soft spoken Chef King is. Everything he says is concise, educational, professional. Loved the video, thank you!
  • Emily: spam is kinda like a pork cold cut Somewhere Frank gently carresses a beautiful prosciutto: there there, she didn't mean that...
  • @SaburoOkita
You know, fried rice is originally supposed to be a way to consume leftover ingredients, not to clean up the entire fridge, Lorenzo.

As expected of Emili, kudos for her ketchup level 1 fried rice, Lorenzo's dish was so full of other things I couldn't even see the rice, you can't call that fried rice I think, and King won my heart with the oyster and crab sauce, that's the kind of strong flavoured fried rice I want in my life <3

These fried rice recipes are a-ma-zing. Emily's fried rice is the kind you make as a broke college student (I certainly have made that one). Lorenzo's version is the type you make on a Sunday family breakfast (reminds me of home with my parents and sibs). King's is the ultimate one, the kind you get at hotels and fancy restos (of course since he's a level III).

At least Emily did not drain her rice and rinse it.
  • @herberthe137
