A thousandth here a thousandth there, pretty soon you have the width of a hair. You have more patience than I do! My K301 has the Mahle piston, which seems to be larger than the standard Kohler. The new standard piston I was going to replace it with fit with considerable slop, so I just put new rings on the old piston and honed the cylinder.
