Searching for Abandoned Ruins in the Woods - Metal Detecting Video

Started off this week scouting a farm that I plan on hitting a lot this winter. Although I got a few good finds, the corn stalks were still a little too high to swing the detector through. So I then ventured off to a section of woods where some old shacks use to be 150 years ago. I started finding some cool old pieces so I know I'm close. GPS was recorded and of course I'll be back!

No Nickel Nibbler with me this week, but he did go out and detect some woods near his house. Check out his channel to see whatever he might have found.

This Saturday, December 23rd will be my last YouTube live stream of the year. There will be some live games for everyone to play, some prizes given out, I'll be live calling a few other detectorists you might know, and of course a fun time on the live chat. 7:30PM-ish EST, hope you can make it.

Your excitement gets me excited. What better way to experience history than to hold it in your hand. Love your videos

Fantastic finds Jason, thanks for sharing them.
  • That’s my favorite type of hunt! Old farm fields and those long gone homesites. Nice IHPs and loved that bell! You also ID’d one my finds last week. The coil points for the model T....had no idea that’s what I dug. Glad I kept it. Great videos as always!

Just wanted to take a second to say thank you for sparking an old love. Had an old orange plastic Radio shack detector when I was a kid and I'm about to try my hand again at 50. Such a fun hobby and great exercise. Happy Hunting!
  • Love that 1881 IHP and the bell!!! Thx for sharing-always enjoy your adventures.🖒😊

Awesome bell! I've never seen anything like that handle, really cool! That was a neat tiny skeleton key too. I had no idea that brass item was a cufflink, that helps me ID a couple of those that I've found, thanks for that!
  • Wow! Those were some pretty amazing finds. The bell is awesome...the skeleton key...the lock...the Indian head coins...antique car parts...just wonderful. Congratulations on a great outing. Merry Christmas to one and all! Peace.

I remember my first bell find. It was about twice that size but not in as good shape. I believe it might have went to the store that used to be in the location. But great finds and can't wait to see more of your videos. Still my favorite
  • Awesome barber. Any find is a good find. Those are old parts.... a bell? Sweet. I love old home site digs in the woods. It's history, someone's life is in those small pieces. Key to some womans jewelry box or vanity, maybe a desk
  • There is more in that homesite for sure. I like the bell and key, great relics. Merry Christmas Jason to you and your family!
  • @DIRTYDOGDIGGERS

  • It's amazing the bell still has the handle! I think you're right, bakelite. There's a type called celluloid too. Nice Barber and IHPs! Man, early wheats too! You got some good dates. Your backup spot turned out to be a winner.

The Color Shine disc was a lid from a vintage Color Shine Shoe Dye bottle manufactured by the Chieftain Mfg. Co. in Baltimore, MD.

Jason, nice assortment of relics, love the small skeleton key, and that bell reminds me of the noise makers they used to sell back in the 70's, very similar to that one, also congrats on the Barbara dime, hope to see you this winter for some hunts, thanks...
