I got access to a spot where an old farmhouse once stood. The farmhouse was tore down somewhere in the 1930's-1940's and now the area is all overgrown with thick brush and woods. We found the foundation of the house and started metal detecting around the area. I found some really cool pieces including one of the most beautiful piece of silver I've ever dug up! We also investigated an underground hatch door that was somewhat hidden in the thick brush. We thought it might be some kind of hidden room but things aren't always what you originally had in mind! Kyle had a rope in his trunk so we drew straws to see who'd descend down and explore, sorry Nibbler! lol

That "tractor" looks like an old WWI tank to me probably from a lead army set
  • @kellye8608
The piece you weren’t sure of looks to me to be a tin tank like how little boys played war. That has to be at least 1900 maybe a little earlier or a little after amazing find!! That silver cameo cover you found is absolutely stunning and so beautiful congrats

That moment he figures out he's metal detecting in a septic tank...priceless..18:38🤔

How many of you getting mad every time he rub what he finds with his dirty cloves?
  • @methesponge
some things you shouldn't rub like that! after you clean it up look closely at the damage you did and it will help you remember to not sand the pieces with your thumb and sandy grit :)
  • @Brucie7702
    5:47 is a design of a Renault FT-17 or FT-20 tank. They're from the 1st world war.
  • The lead piece you found is not a ship, it's a tank. Lead was used to make toy "army men" tanks, canons, etc. circa 1940.
  • @leller4676
The piece with the glass is in fact a high voltage glass insulator. They used to be used on power lines, nice find!
  • Yup. That’s an old septic tank. Called a “dry well" and were no more than a stone-lined or cement block-lined pit. This pit serviced to collect both the solids..like a septic tank...and allow the wastewater to flow into the ground (thru spaces between the rocks or blocks). Since this was an old farm house tore down in the 30’s...my guess is...an outhouse once set there. Farms back then didn’t have running water and electricity so not sure what’s up with the pipes. Unless the landowners were mistaken about the yrs the house was occupied. Plus, way back then, if a farmer wanted running water they had to pay for the piping from the main line (which would have been in the city) to their home. And pay for electricity to be run from the nearest pole or station.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the silver cameo piece you found. Amazing what our elder's were able to make.
  • @DiggingCanuck
That is probably the first time someone detected a septic tank. Almost felt Geraldo Riveira-ish 😉
  • @memorylaine
Thank you for not only a great show but I needed the laugh...'out house?" Hahahaha Searching for a coin some child ate.... You guys are great!
  • @jimtalbott2095
That glass piece appears to be a fill level gauge for an old fuel oil tank
  • The little tractor thing looks alot like an early tank. The sterling lid may be the top to a face cream jar. Awesome piece brother.
  • You need a spray bottle and a brush. You need to quit rubbing stuff with your gritty thumb. That is a terrible habit. Dude it's like 36 grit sand paper!!!!!! Just quit doing it.
