Aaaa what a relief, i don't need to hate myself anymore for not being good at some things. I thought I just wasn't trying hard enough. The testimonies are so helpful too! Imagine if Jon Piper became a doctor how much amazing Biblical teaching the world would be missing! So glad he found the right fit and was able to let the medicine plan go.

We can misread our callings, may the LORD God in heaven help us

One thing worth noting. I’m only 23. I graduated college two years ago. I was good at nothing, as I suspect most people my age are. I started the job I studied for. It was hard. I never thought I would be good at it. I hated it because it was so hard. However, a lot of people advised me to stick with it, including my boss. He said in his experience people straight out of college take two years to figure it out. Well, two years later, I am glad I did not quit. I enjoy this field more and understand it better. So my advice to younger folks is this: You will inevitably struggle starting a career, unless you had exposure to the vocation from a young age. So stick with it for some time at least.

This moved me to tears because i so needed this. Thank you Pastor John and all who make this possible.

Thank you. I’ve been dealing with this issue for two years now. It has effected the confidence and trust from other employees when I know I’m so much greater than my results. After all my efforts, I have to accept that I’m not so great in this area, at least not now in this season of growth.

i am crying because i feel the same way.

I feel the exact same way! I have a job where I love one aspect of my role, but I am not good at others. I spoke to my supervisor who reassured me it would take time to learn and grow in my role. Fortunately, my employer has training, and I was surprised that at the last training there were dozens of people learning the same things I was. I think if you love some things about your work then you can learn the other aspects of the work that you know less well or aren't very good at.

What a timely message for me as I just left my job because I felt exactly what this message is titled.
-
The only thing about this message I'm not seeing is that when you start something new you will be bad at it, but in time you can improve and even become amazing at that something. The question I have is how long should you work at improving something before it is clear that God is leading you somewhere else?

This is one of the best Piper clips I’ve heard. Great wisdom & teaching.

I am 45 still not found calling....i work just to put food in the table. If a person does not take care of his family is worse than an unbeliever..
-
Very good! Thank you Pastor John. As always, you really have a calling and a gift to teach, as God has used you many times in my life. Thanks!
-
Brilliant - thank you Pastor John and DG Team

Objective criteria for our competency... but Moses was shy and was a bad public speaker. David didn’t seem fit. Israel doesn’t seem fit. God chooses what seems like foolishness to the world

I'm a preschool teacher feeling the same way!! Working with children and families is a joy. The management not supportive and other demands of the job is becoming overwhelming. Praying for direction.

Thank you Pastor John for this. I'm currently in a job I don't enjoy, and it's really hard some days to be motivated to go to work and work hard (I'm in the military, so I can't just quit). But The Lord has done some really good things through my first couple of years here, and this detour is looking a lot like providence.

Thank you so much I find myself in the same place as your wife was, thank you for sharing.

THANK YOU

Very good message!
