What race are people from the Hispanic Caribbean nations? Today, we're going to discuss the history of America's Southern neighbors and the genetics and ancestry of some of the world's most unique regions.

Go ahead and let me know your thoughts on the region, and tell me in the comments whether you have ancestry from any of these 3 nations, and whether you identify as White, Black, Mestizo, Mulatto or something else all together. Thanks for watching!

  • I am Cuban, and I love to my Caribbean brothers Puerto Rico and República Dominicana!!🇨🇺🇵🇷🇩🇴
  • I'm boricua = (puerto rican) Thank you for explaining to the world who we really are, and why we are of all colors, black, white, mestizos, etc... It's a common mistake to treat us as a homogeneous group, when we really are a palette of colors. Proud to be from 🇵🇷
  • I’m Cuban, and what annoys me a lot is that in the US I can’t say I’m Caribbean. I don’t like the term Latina or Latinx because I grew up in a place where no one uses such terms, and culturally we are all so different. Caribbean is the best I can get. But in the US people don’t seem to know that Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, and they tell me that if I’m not black I can’t be Caribbean. It’s so frustrating! Anyway....Thank you for your video! I’m a new subscriber.
  • People from the Caribbean are a mix of rice and beans, fried plantains, and fish. Tobacco and coffee too.

I am Puerto Rican and when people here in the us ask what i am i always explain Spaniard, indian (taino), and african which gave me this great head of curls! ;) we all look different even within the same family i am one of four children we all look different from our skin color down to hair color and texture i think its a beautiful thing!
  • @dominicanbrian
I’m Dominican born and raised in Santiago and I was surprised that I actually was more Italian than Spanish! I have ~55% European, ~25% African, ~12% Taíno and 8% Middle Eastern! So it’s so interesting that we come in all colors and heritage!
  • @luiscepeda2152
I'm so proud of my islands!! 🇵🇷 🇩🇴 and 🇨🇺 people. I love you guys!! Stay true!!
  • Thank you for this info. I’ve done a dna ancestry test after my grandmother told me she was from the Caribbean. I have found that I have family from Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti and South America. My mind is blown as I fell that I know so very little. I will continue to dig deeper into this lost history. I feel somewhat cheated to not have known all my life. Thank you again.
