In this video, I show you one website that I use to do research to find old properties to metal detect. I will walk you through the website, show you what I look for and cross reference it to a modern aerial to see what is on that property right now.

I live in a small town in Maine founded in the 18th century. I was able to go to the historical society online for my town and actually was amazed at the pics, maps of the streets and what was there. My own home is a victorian age home but i never knew alot of the buildings and areas until i did. Great advice!
  • Cool I have the app for historic aerials but haven't looked on the pc. I'm glad YouTube brought this video to me 👍✌️

Didn't know they did the overlay for you now. I did this for years in Google earth. This just made it easy mode. Thanks

Thank you Tony for this information. I'm completely new to metal detecting and your channel has already helped me immensely. I will for sure be tuning in again!

Thank You Tony, I was just wondering a few days ago on how to find really old places. What was there before and not today. Hopefully this should help my quest on finding some lost 1895 Gold coins. Thanks

Great info Tony! Thx for taking the time to make this for everyone.
  • Great video man! Very well laid out and I think a lot of people will benefit from this information for sure. Cheers!
  • This is an excellent video Tony, a very well done how-to! I’m saving this video! We do very similar stuff but didn’t know about the website that does all of that stuff for you! Thanks for making this one! I’m in process of making a similar video but also has the footage of me hiking out to some old cellar holes.
  • Hahaha I love the editing on this video! Great humor!😂 Awesome info too! We use a lot of the same techniques! Awesome vid Tony!

Thank you Tony. It's going to be raining all day here in Eastern NC so I'm gonna check this out!

Great, informative video. Thank you for that.. Most of the older maps I've pulled up are not giving me the Historic Earth or Google Satellite options so I've had to choose a newer map but I'm not complaining. This is a valuable resource.
  • Good video. When you were talking about that dump site, I was thinking of where they might have put the dirt that was removed and used as fill dirt somewhere else.

Thanks Tony! I've always wanted to overlay maps but didn't know where to go! Looking forward to using this site!!👍👍
