  • Turns out the alligator was actually their guide to the lighthouse but is totally bad at introducing himself.
  • Rule of thumb: In horror movies, a place that looks "abandoned" is NEVER abandoned.
  • Alligator is like.. "Dam... this used to be easy back in the 90's" :(
  • As a Floridian I can confirm this happens everyday

For anyone who hasn’t seen the movie: they aren’t soldiers, their scientists who got sent in next. They were also all severely depressed and suicidal. Each character represents self destruction. They got sent in after another group of actual soliders who were men got killed. If this helps you think of SCP foundation, everyone who gets sent in is Class D personal.

You know, it looks like Natalie Portman actually had some decent firearms training in this scene. She leans forward and aims carefully with her first shot, then when the best possible target presents itself (the open mouth when the gator turns) she immediately drops to the best angle/level while still maintaining the correct firing stance and body posture to handle the recoil. Not bad!
  • WHAT?! An animal actually dying by someone using a firearm and not being totally inmune to bullets? What kind of movie is this?
  • This reminds me of that massive alligator in Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • The mutations of the animals in this movie are fascinating. That wasn’t just an albino alligator, it was mutated. Its scales and size have changed, but in time I think it would have continued its evolution to incorporate that strange toothed throat it developed. Cosmic horror is so hard to pull off. And this movie did wonderful. Such as the bear evolving to assimilate that one woman’s vocal cords. It was blind but that may have been the start of its growth into something more. Like the Eldritch horror of Bloodborne. Where the people were becoming beasts, the animals were changing too. Imagine the end result of what these creatures could become. Horrifying. Meanwhile the shimmering humanoids are likely something akin to Eldritch gods. At least a cosmic being of higher intelligence seeking to gain a human form. To evolve from a metaphysical entity into a physical one.
  • Ffs, the sling exists for a reason. Every time someone in a movie just places a weapon down, it hurts my brain.
  • Man, when the alligator gets in the water from the "bridge"... That CGI is so goddamn impressive and smooth.
  • @ChazSmith
Yes, drop the high-powered gun and get into the dark water with the deadly creature.
  • @deviny
It's funny that the alligator ended up being the least threatening creature in the whole thing. It almost seemed friendly and was just trying to play with them. It never actually hurt the girl in the water and it never felt aggressive during the whole fight. It was just slowly and calmly trying to come up to them.

Pretty cool how she distracts the alligator with a single shot, takes aim and unloads on the thing.
  • That's rude...... He just wanted to make friends with you guys
  • The CGI on that gator is absolutely fantastic. Great work from the visual effects team on this. Because they were using real creatures and had enough reference photography they were able to get the movement and the lighting right.
