This is how you do horror. No cheap jump scares, pure helplessness with a terrifying monster.
-
That bear would make a great Resident Evil monster.
-
1:02 I really loved this. The bear slowly bites her just to check what the hell is she and if she's worth it (or safe) to eat. If she freaks out, she's a pray and he must kill her. If not, then it's probablly not food and he must keep lucking in another place.

The fact the the producerd captured how .223 rounds actually work and that they dont leave giant entry holes but leave huge exit holes is something that makes this scene much better
-
Although I was holding my breath and genuinely terrified at this scene, I couldn’t help but notice it looks like that monster that chases you in temple run
-
That was truly horrifying. The girls screams getting mauled to death were freaking haunting
-
i love how incredibly detailed the scene is, even down to the bullets exiting the bear's head. it doesnt make it explode, it makes some small entry wounds and causes massive fragmentation on exit. very realistic and believable. truly a scary scene

As an adult fan of horror movies very little truly scares me these days. After you've watched enough horror, you know what to look for and what to expect. However this scene deeply unsettled me in a profound way. This bear mutation is one of the most disturbing creations I've ever seen and it shook me to the core. It's so unsettling and frightening, particularly when it (or the woman who's vocal cords it ate) screams out in pain to lure the crazy woman outside. And that shot when it moves into the light for the first time! This scene is seared into my brain.

Being attacked by a bear? Just say no! 🤚 Bears don't have the rights to attack you if they don't have your permission.

"Don't worry he don't bite" The dog:

The way the human scream is incorporated within the bear's roar is a genius idea, i've never seen something like that in another movie before. Completely terrifying.

So 2 things. 1) I have to give the director a bit of credit here. A bear doesn't just maul everything in site, when it was sniffing the women that was actually very realistic to how a bear might react. Then a gentle test-bite. That very realistic. 2) I watched this clip wondering because I heard of a bear that has a woman's voice. Having not watched the movie, I could be wrong or this was explicitly stated in the movie itself, but it seems to me the bear monster's human sounding voice keeps crying out "Help!" and "Me!" in a very strained way. At first I thought it was an intelligent/supernatural creature and was using that as a lure, but since it seems to just be a bear it got me thinking. The last thing the woman would have been screaming was "Help me!" (certainly a strong contender for what you'd yell when you're being ripped apart by a bear). So this monster now had the vocal cords to make this noise was parroting the last phrase it heard from the woman. If that's true, that's actually very clever.

One of my biggest fear is something else mimicking people or someone I know to lure me out
-
The girls acting who died was incredible
-
2:10 rest in peace mutant bear, you'll be remembered as one of the most terrifying freak of natures ever.
-
In mythology, skinwalkers sound like their last victim, so basically that's probably where they got the idea for the creature.

“Which bear is best” FALSE The Annihilation bear

Should’ve drew a circle
-
00:58, that roar... just magnificent
-
1:00 The way you can see part of a human face beneath the empty eye socket is so beautifully unsettling I'm not sure whether to feel pure fear or adoration for whoever came up with this design
