Yes, less than 1 hour run time! I bought this from a police dept that didn't want it for a song along with a trailer.
Should run for a long time. Before the first start, I removed all 4 glow plugs and spun engine for a few min to bring oil into diesel engine. Once I had oil pressure I put the glow plugs back in and fired it up as you see, This is a real nice generator.

Dig a cave underground with solar power and burning a fire in your wood stove to keep warm. EMP electro magnetic pulse is what a powerless government will use as a extreme measure. Then we will have to hide in our big wine cellar, cistern or underground shipping container in the woods. We will have to go hunting and start using our hidden grain storage knife, knives gun & ammo for the ak47. The military m6 tank, aircraft with night vision thermal vision hardware will bag suburban living & cities. We are perceived more dangerous! Oh and when marshall law starts, we need these things too: "bug out bag" "bug out vehicle" BOV even an armored car for our money gold and silver. Preppers survive because of being ready and fitness. Also we do need to play: Recreation like Disney movies a hamburger on the BBQ grill a deer shot ,pheasant, ice cream...all the good stuff. Girls clothes, shoes, heels, designer dress, all that fufu stuff is done for. Basic necessities, good bad ugly food clothing shelter, companion friends that God loves, the bible and our faith in Jesus Christ. He died for your sins. Bible study & fellowship is important, keep it up no matter what! Homesteader needs to be homesteading & homeschooling their little ones. Bus or RV converted to a bug out vehicle BOV. A cabin in the woods is a retreat a hidden home.
All these things are important to some, some are important to all.

Keep the glow plugs glowing for a few more seconds before a cold start next time and she will fire up much easier!!

I have the same generator for my home back and I also buy/sell/repair them. I just want to let you know about something in the video to be cautious of. You can't let the generator run below about 50hz for any length of time. You will damage the voltage regulator. Don't idle it down when you shut it down. Leave it set to 60hz. You aren't hurting it to start and have it go straight to full speed. Its built to do that. Idling will do much more (and expensive) damage.

I have that same for back elect. for shop but gas there is nothing in this world better then ONAN it can sit for extensive amounts of years and when you need it it never fails you.......

It doesn't get much better than that (and stay within reason) for off grid power needs. With a little thought on how you use your appliances, this guy should be able to provide for you power needs and in a manner not that much different to being on grid. Super excellent move in snagging that genny!

I just bought a similar Military surplus 10,000 kw diesel Onan gen set from a rural fire dept (mounted on trailer) that was upgrading their back up unit. Getting ready to start it for first time. Any other sugestions ?? Thanks

I just bought a 2kw with a yanmar engine on it by Dewey Electronics. It hasn't been started either but shows 3 factory test hours. I'm nervous about firing it up

does anyone ever turn these things by hand to make sure they arent siezed up with sitting idle for years ? just wondering if there was oil put down the bores or anything to prevent breaking the rings
