hi justice lee what a cool mep generator two cool generator set up two🎉
  • I bought one. Repaired some leaks on the return side fuel rail. Getting breakers and Romex this weekend. My loads are greater than yours, so I won't run central AC with it. She's a beauty. Thanks for the great, informative video.

The fuse (Littelfuse Brand KLDR 3 (KLDR-3) 3 Amp (3 A) 600V Midget Time-Delay fuse) was added around 2009 and in service models were upgraded to eliminate stator burnout from rectifier failure in the voltage regulator The diodes didn't really have a high enough voltage rating for the occasional 400 volt spike from the Quad winding. If you put a MOV (part #14D151K Metal Oxide Varistor Dependent Resistor 150V 95VAC 125VDC) between pins 7 & 8 (marked QUAD) of the voltage regulator you will protect it from these spikes and prevent failure in the voltage regulator (they are sometimes hard to find and expensive). Also, from your video, it's unclear of where your ground wire from the generator is going. It should not go to the house panel where the neutral is bonded to the ground, unsafe voltages could circulate back into the generator case. You should have a very good ground for the generator AT/NEXT TO the generator and no connection to the house panel ground.

Run that unit at least 50% load or higher. I see guys running these things too long without a load. You don’t want wet stacking. I use an electric stove as a load bank. It won’t hurt it to run at max load.
  • @stephengorin3059
Just be carefull of "wet Stacking" your Generator ( operating with a very small load ). This can be a problem with all diesel generator and can lead to a premiture failure of the diesel engine.
  • @jimsbagels1991
Very cool video, need more like it. Watch out for wet stacking at that low load

Looks like you need to adjust your frequency just a bit.

Justice - my wife and I are about to go fully off grid and set up a 48 volt off grid system. We need a dependable generator to power the inverters and charge controllers for (2) 2,000 amp hour batteries. I am wondering if a unit like this can provide the amount of battery we need to charge the battery bank(s).

Its hard to hear over that generator
  • How does the sine wave look on one of those generators? Is it a pure sine wave or less than 5% total harmonic distortion ?
  • Very nice. I’m looking into getting one. Was a ground rod required?
  • And how the heck did you get it in your backyard? That’s my issue.
  • @JT-qf4it
How long will it run on a full tank of fuel?
  • @chris76-01
What kind of motor oil does this generator use? 10w-30?

Hello Sir good evening/good morning, I saw your video on youtube regarding an MEP 802 generator, and was wondering if you know if that is the generator used for the ac unit  ACE-802-392S and if not, if you know which generator(s) is/are used to power that ac unit.

Safety sally here . You have any issue with co coming into the house since genie is so close to it?
