The Students Union at UWE | Ripples of Change | Navigating Transformation | Organised by Bethel Ekaette. Clare, an experienced workplace wellbeing strategist and keynote speaker, has a personal journey marked by burnout, anxiety disorder, and alcohol addiction stemming from toxic work environments. Her mother's sudden passing in 2015 compelled her to prioritize mental health over her career. Transitioning from high-pressure roles, she founded her own consultancy, focusing on cultivating thriving workplace cultures. Clare's expertise spans advising global leaders, crafting bespoke wellbeing strategies for diverse organizations, and measuring impact. She has served clients like Channel 4, Warner Media, and KPMG, drawing from her background in learning and development and leadership consultancy across Europe and Asia, including roles at TKE and YSC. Notably, she spearheaded Burberry's global wellbeing strategy. Passionate about effecting meaningful change, Clare aims to foster environments where individuals can thrive. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

  • I agree not everyone goes through WD or ends up homeless. If you read some recovery literature from different fellowships, it mentions stories like her’s and other stories that give examples of addicts/alcoholics that have high bottoms or are the non-stereotypical addicts. The gifts of being sober is sitting with emotions and feeling the feelings. Drinking and drugging are symptoms of not being able to deal with life on life’s terms. The ‘anonymous’ in any fellowship is about protecting the space and the individuals in that space so ppl can share openly and freely knowing what they say won’t be repeated. It’s a place where some ppl can learn how to be vulnerable. I wonder if this lady has ever gone to a few meetings in various fellowships. I’m glad she is sober. Five highways will get you to Detroit. I hope this video can help someone get on the road of recovery.
