It's the quality of the games that will make or break PlayStation VR2 - and launch titles supplied in the review period did not quite convince. Gran Turismo 7 was made available to journalists and public alike at the headset's launch - and it's a game-changer. In this video, John breaks down how good the VR upgrade is, and how Sony achieved it, with head-to-head comparisons with the standard 'flat' version of the game.

I’ve been a gamer for 41 years….GT7 in VR with a good wheel is the most incredible gaming experience I’ve ever had! It’s how I imagined gaming to be like in the future, when I was a child.

It's phenomenal. Driving around Tokyo at night in an F1 car is ridiculously intense

After playing GT7 in vr there is no way I could return playing the flat version. Just an amazing experience everyone I showed it was blown away in the headset.

The depth perception and the ability to look into the turns, it's such huge added value when racing.

Really loving GT7 in VR. It’s just so dramatically different than playing on a screen. Definitely something you need to experience.

GT7 in VR is one of my favorite gaming experiences I've ever had. It feels like that jump from SNES to N64 for me all over again. Hoping this is the next step for video games as a whole.

GT7 in VR with a steering wheel and pedals is one of the best experiences I have had in gaming. Was worried I had overspent for PSVR2, but it's honestly worth every penny

I bought a racing rig with wheel/pedals/shifter in anticipation of VR2 and it was worth every penny. The experience feels so real it's unreal. Sony and Polyphony Digital absolutely nailed it.
  • i literally could not stop playing gt7 VR last weekend... each time i hopped in 3-5 hours vanished, the presentation and depth of this game is incredible!
  • Just been playing this in vr 2, it's a level of immersion I wasn't prepared for

This was my first experience of GT in VR. Mainly due to the VR1 fogging up and motion sickness on PS4. This VR2 is so much better. I can play for much longer wit no fog or motion issues. I love it!

I've been a VR nerd for 7 years and owned a bunch of hmds combined with a high-end PC but Gran Turismo 7 VR still blew my mind completely. It's so insanely good but all the superlatives in the world can't describe it even closely. You have to experience it. Thanks for covering this, DF.

PS has mentioned before that one of their VR approach is to have hybrid games. GT7 and RE8 are the best example. I think this is the best approach for a successful VR. 100% VR games as well but the market is "small" still and able to sell your game with VR modes is good approach

It definitely feels like they made the interiors with PSVR2 in mind from the start. And hey, I’m definitely not complaining.

I held out on playing this until it was in VR. After experiencing it, I don’t wanna sully it by trying it on a flatscreen. Words can describe the feeling of ‘being’ in the driver seat for the first time. It’s phenomenal

It’s honestly the best VR driving experience I’ve ever had.

Great video gents, thanks for the in-depth tech review! :D

It's beautiful. Take the plunge. Resident Evil Village is incredible as well. The black levels alone is such an improvement to the image quality vs other headsets I've used.

The game is insane in VR. Even my friend that only plays Forza is now buying PSVR2 and GT7

Not having VR menus is perfect to allow your brain/senses to take a break and likely helps people play GT7 in VR for much longer. (imo).
