I am a treasure hunter. So in addition to metal detecting, I go mudlarking at sites such as Dead Horse Bay. Think of mudlarking as metal detecting without a metal detector.

Merrill, you are hands down my favorite YT detectionist to watch. Your finds make it exciting and your humor and entertainment is the best out there! Great hunt, appreciate the knowledge with two spoonfuls of humor to boot!!!!
  • @margo7365
Merril, I am SOOO excited for you, my own heart started pounding when I saw that gold monster of a chain that you pulled!!! You deserve that kind of a day at least once a week....... for the value of your teaching, inspiration and fun you you bring to us all!!
  • I only recently came across your channel. LOVE the vibe my man. Funny, informative, cool finds, what more could a fella ask for? Subbed
  • Merrill. Couple things. #1 Had you routed the antenna cable thru the mounting clip per the instructions it would not have broken. #2 It comes with a lanyard so if the RC comes off it does not get lost. #3 Always read the instructions

One more quick comment lol. I shortened my antenna wire and ran it through the inside of the shaft. Where i spliced it I soldered the connection and used waterproof heat shrink tubing to seal the connection. Secondly i I picked up an extra shaft and lower rod, so when I do dirt hunting I don't have to constantly remove the antenna wire. It's much easier to just switch the coil for me. Keep up the great work!
  • As you said, in time, with use, detectors pay for themselves. To all the people who lose valuables, detectorist's everywhere think about you often. And if possible, those conscientious human beings return 13.5 gram 18 kt. gold bracelets and other returnable jewelry. Good for you Merrill. Keep us informed, entertained and passionate about our shared hobby.

Hi Merrill, solution to prevent control box being lost. I found a little tether that can be snapped together. One end loops through the small tether hole in the box, the other part attaches to the stem mount. I had to drill a tiny hole in the stem fitting to loop the other half of the tether through. I clip the box on then snap the tethers together. If the box comes loose it still remains attached to the stem mount.
  • Omg! What a day! After this video, everyone’s out there looking for Phil’s ring! Congratulations on that chain and unique ring! The ring looks like a real old design. Beautiful! My fav on the video today.
  • Great video Merrill! Awesome finds. That gold chain paid for your whole kit! When your control box fell off the attachment I was thinking "where's the tether that came with it?" I agree that it is a design flaw with the Deus. A lot of guys are swapping out the attachment bracket for an after-market version that is better designed. BTW, I really enjoyed listening to you on Relic Radio podcast the other day. Keep up the great videos and happy digging, Dave.
  • I love it when sushi gets unlocked. That piece was the center bezel of a pocket watch.
  • Congratulations on the big find!! Love the vids keep up the good work 👍
  • What an amazing beach day! The ocean was with you and Phil. I feel really badly at Phil's ring loss. You, on the other hand, came up trumps. That gold necklace was the bomb! Not sure of the Deus II build. With detectors, it is always something!
  • @mitchtillison
Congratulations! That was a very rewarding hunt. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Awesome ! Find Merrill Dig On Sir ! Also cant wait to see the Manticore at the Beach😎👍
  • @MD-NWWI
Awesome trip to the beach. You have to use that tether cord that came with the detector. You just have to tie the one end to the shaft and the other just loops onto the remote.
  • The Deus 2 is definitely a great detector, one of the top 4 or 5 made. It seems like more and more problems are cropping up with build quality though. Every detector has its strengths and weaknesses. I was watching a CTX user using a manticore and he could tell the difference between iron falseing and good targets because it sounded on iron just like the CTX does. An update should be able to fix the iron issue on the Manticore though.
  • Awesome hunt Merril'I enjoyed your video and good Luck to you.Happy New Year to you.
  • @aaronburr4697
I love the pattern on that spoon. Awesome haul for the day.
