Without a doubt Palki will be missed immensely. It’s hard to imagine Gravitas without her. Thank you for your excellent journalism..

This hits the nail right on the head. I’ve been telling some parents that their kids are way over scheduled. When we were kids most of our free time was filled with games we came up with and we never at a shortage of ideas.
  • Even adults need to learn this! Best wishes for your future endeavours. Keep the fire alive and blaze the trail.

Palki, WION is not WION without you. Hope to hear you again soon somewhere else.

First time I've heard any parenting advice in a very long time that was worthwhile listening to. I've been screaming this very thing for years because I am a guitar instructor and my young students are all stressed out because of too many activities, high pressure at school and absolutely no free time for even the basic things needed to be a well balanced person. Their parents have them enrolled in everything available and they go go go 7 days a week. It's ridiculous and the results have been nothing but negative for these kids.
  • Growing up was a lot of fun. Didn't know about being bored. When I got home from school, I'd just knock off the homework first, then it was playtime. Projects took more time, even going to the library. Some children had parents helping them or even doing their assignments. Sometimes I could ask my Dad the meaning of words but I had to everything myself. I even watched TV while doing homework chatting away to siblings or parents. I knew some of my peers could never have gotten a good grade if their parent didn't do their project for them. Seemed unfair to me too but I said, That's not stopping me. I felt a sense of accomplishment beacuse my grades were of my own effort, no help. I taught my children the same. I'd buy the glue and the poster board but I wanted to see them set it up and use their imagination. I'd credit them and support their efforts. On holidays I didn't mess with schoolwork, I'd just enjoy the season. When school was open, I was back to getting top grades. Always had to be amongst the top grades or be number one. No time to be bored

Thank you Palki for being an amazing journalist and speaking the truth. Wish you all the best for your future!
  • This video and advice was outstanding. I lived in the country when young and the neighbour next door was probably 3/4 miles away. I wasnt bored. Nature was the magical place for me and each environment offered me a different experience like the forested area was full of vitality and tall trees giving a canopy to the little white flowers (the trillium) which is Ontario's national flour. There was often water and spongey areas with moss, rocks and so much more. I was in my own world observing, listening and drinking in the deep feelings and knowings of the stillness and the connection to the universal field of consciousness, of light and of deep knowing. The meadow offered me a different experience. I always had a friend close to me because I had a twin sister. However there were times, I just wanted to experience the magic on my own. I am glad I didnt start going to school until I was 6 1/2 years old. School was not challenging and or exciting for me. In fact it was boring and I didnt like it. I preferred the great outdoors, stillness and the beauty of the Creator. Thanks again for your great insights and knowing. Stillness and unknowingness is so vitally important. This is where you really get to know who you are. You are a magnificent and magical being. However, the school system, parents and our culture takes our power away. I know, I lived thru that. Was speaking to a woman today and she said I would never believe that you were not confident and or voiceless. It took me a long time to develop a voice. I studied myself under ancient wisdom for six years.
  • list starts at 4:37 1. Boredom is essential for emotional development 2. Boredom helps strategize 3. Boredom helps children develop problem-solving skills 4. Boredom makes them creative 5. Boredom instills a sense of independence overall, great vid so be sure to watch it whole
  • When we were Kids we weren't 'bored.' At least I wasn't. It was MY time to read, dream, roam the Woods and fields. I grew up without the 'advantages' of constant planned activities - my parents couldn't afford it. I've never felt the need to be 'busy' in my life. Kids need freedom and mental space!

Sad to hear true face of journalism is quitting WION. She is the reason y I watch gravitas, wherever she will go , i will follow her
  • Good luck for whatever you do next, Palki. You're the one who got me hooked to international news. I haven't missed a single episode of Gravitas since I started listening to you in Jan 2021. I will keep tuning in to Gravitas if the show continues to run. The content of the show is too good to miss. But I will certainly miss you as the host.
  • Thank you .. everything I would have said if I’d been able to. When we were kids we had lots of those times. I’m eternally grateful for all the things I learned to do while my mom was writing and my dad was doctoring (or playing golf!) .. I made stuff.. anything .. today I am still making stuff .. tables cupboards fireplaces boats music movies .. repairing things.. painting pictures. Wish my parents were still around to thank them .. I’m 78 years old and never been happier than when I’m bored🌞
  • I watch Gravitas fairly regularly and Palki will be missed. The topic you chose today is extremely important. In today's chaotic world, your show is like fresh air.
  • Hi Palkisha, I learned through some comments bellow that you are quitting Gravitas, if true, I'll be very sad because I started following Gravitas news because of you! To me you're among the best journalists in the world!!! May The Almighty Creator bless and protect you and your family!!!! From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!
  • Last pages of our notebooks were the real evidence of how we passed our free times and killed boredom , 90s children in India could have a 12 hr journey just seeing the landscapes and appreciating nature!
