BIRTH CONTROL IN MARRIAGE?

Did you plan on getting married based on when you were ready to have children? I’m 22 and married and we are choosing to use contraceptives because we are not financially ready to have a child. Did you wait until you knew you could practically have a child before getting married?

I like this, but I also keep thinking, "isnt having sex and expecting God to prevent you from getting pregnant like eating only doughnuts and expecting God to keep you at a healthy weight?" It's doing an activity that gets people pregnant and then hoping God will reverse the outcomes of that action. I don't really understand but I so want to if anyone has answers pls lmk!

I'm a Christian, and I am not married (yet) and I'm not sexually active, but I use birth control because I have horrific menstrual cramps, and it is the only thing that has worked to help it. It has changed my life for the better.

100% respect your stance on BC. I graduate from nursing school in a few months and have been working in Womens health care for over 4 years now and it is worth saying that those who suffer from the exceptionally damaging side effects of BC also have other underlying health issues (currently smoking cigarettes is a HUGE risk factor). I felt I needed to share this bc I do not think what you’re saying is wrong, it just needed a little more context. 😊 Also, like any medication with side effects, BC (can affect everyone differently. I myself have not had any personal issues however I know several women who have. It is not for everyone and I appreciate how personal and honest you are. I’ve been married 10.5 years and we have two kids and it’s amazing! You encourage me as a Christian wife and mother. Thank you! 💜

Emily, thanks for making this video. It was real and powerful, and I think people will be able to receive this because of your genuine heart. Like you said, I think it so often comes to down to trust. Do we REALLY trust God with everything? We are almost two years into marriage and we started out on the pill until God convicted us of not trusting Him in this area. Now we’re letting Him do His thing in His timing and it feels so good!! Whoop!!

Thank you sooooo much for sharing this! I share the exact same views as you and I'm not even Catholic; lots of other Christians of other denominations around me would completely disagree. I've often felt difficulty and discomfort in trying to articulate this to friends and family. I'm engaged and I've discussed this briefly with my fiancé. I enjoyed hearing your take on this subject. I'm currently engaged and have been praying about what approach we'll be taking once we're married. I have a genetic blood clotting disorder - going on the pill would more than likely cause me to have a blood clot, so that's really not something I want to do. It's extremely important for those considering it to be aware of the health risks and the negative effects on hormones. I appreciate your insight on it ultimately being a trust issue.

I know you were sharing your story and I truly enjoyed hearing it and your perspective. As someone who required birth control as a teenager due to medical reasons (nothing to do with preventing pregnancy) im a little worried that young girls who watch this may become fearful of the side effects you mentioned that aren’t different than any other medication you are prescribed from a dr. I couldn't help but notice a lot of people in the comments are talking about their personal reasons for birth control and then are asking questions about your opinion. But the things is, this video is explaining YOUR personal reasons made with your husband for not using BC in YOUR marriage---your own experiences. Thank you for sharing your personal reasons.
