I can't believe Ducklett became a starter, so proud of him.

All I ask is you keep this cat on all fours, thankyou!

It feels weirdly nostalgic to be back at the color-based naming conventions for new Pokémon games.

I swear time keeps moving faster and faster. I feel like it's too soon for a new generation, but three years is the standard time between generations, and three years have indeed passed since Sword and Shield. Wow.
  • After analyzing the footage, I’m 99% sure the Gen 9 region is based on Spain/Portugal. The map on the wall of the player’s house shows the western coast of the Iberian peninsula, and the Gamefreak office has multiple documents on the wall, one showing the eastern coast of Spain leading into the Mediterranean. What’s more, the Starter Pokemon names seem to be influenced by romantic languages (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly). Fuego literally means “fire” in Spanish. Regardless, I really like the aesthetic. The Catholic-influenced architecture reminds me of the missions and casas throughout Mexico and other Hispanic countries. I am pleasantly surprised!

For those of you wondering about gen 9: -The region depicted is Iberia, which is Spain/Portugal. - Scarlet and Violet are referencing Infrared and Ultraviolet light. This is likely chosen due to the iconic stained glass windows in Spain’s cathedrals. -The grass cat starter is named Sprigatito, and is a reference to Islamic influence in the region due to cats being viewed as holy in the faith. -The fire crocodile/dragon starter is named Fuecoco, and represents Iberian dragons which references the European influence in the region. It is also likely that this is Coco, a boogeyman in Spain sometimes depicted as a dragon. -The water swan starter is named Quaxly, with swans being as iconic to the region as geese are to Canada. This with his hairdo represents modern Spanish and Portuguese culture. Some thoughts: Be on the lookout for one of if not both of the legendaries to be bipedal goat Pokemon. This region has a lot of legends about creatures like this, with one called Akerbeltz being a protector of animals in pagan culture which transformed into the devil under Christianity Edit: Also expect depictions of the Basajarau, Duende, Caballucos, the Man of Noses, Santa Compaña, Cuélebre and many others.

While the gen nine stuff looks pretty cool, I do really wish that they would take more time developing each game. Because legends was absolutely amazing but definitely rough around the edges and I think a little bit more time would have really made a big difference. (That and voice acting lol) But we will see

Gen freaking 9 and they only released Arceus a month ago. I love how it looks, and I can't wait to train Donal Duck in my new pokemon game.
  • @DarkkDoc

  • Wow, gen 9 came out FAST. I’m a bit nervous about the overall quality of the new Pokémon game but still very hopeful. I look forward to what Game Freak has up their sleeve.
  • @otakuribo
I really hope (Scar/Vio)let use the new encounter and battle mechanics from Legends Arcaeus, because Arcaeus is the most fun I've had with the Pokemon series in YEARS and would love to see what a mainline Pokemon gen could do with it! I love the vibe of the new region, too
  • @sora654able1
The Daybreak update has been an amazing experience! I hope we get more adventures in legends with these updates
  • @GlitchxCity
GEN 9 IS HERE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE
  • @Mantosasto
I love Pokémon, it's a big part of my childhood. I even like the new gens mon design (speaking as someone who started with gen 1) but why do every game look so cheap? I don't usually care about graphics but I feel Pokémon deserves better.
  • @Alohaxsharq
I love how the fire croc looks like a mini chilly pepper! Also I’m so psyched for these new games!
  • @flamthrowr_
Wow, Scarlet and Violet look interesting! If it’s Legends: Arceus mechanics combined with classic Pokémon, that’ll be awesome.
  • @MegaJSK123
Grass Cat: Sprigatito Fire Croc: Fuecoco Water Duck: Quaxly I'M SO HYPED!!
  • Can't belive its nearly been a year since scarlet and violet got revealed

Maybe I'm in the minority but this feels too soon for Gen 9. Normally we have around three years between generations but we not only just got BP remakes, Legends just launched. Legends was made by Game Freak. I liked the remakes (haven't played Legends yet), but I'm worried GF are stretching themselves too thin for how small they are as a dev team. I feel like the series needs more time between releases and this makes me worried I'll be disappointed again like with Sword and Shield at launch. It also frankly feels like this many releases is burning me out. How can I have time to get excited when we just got Legends which is mostly everything I ever wanted Pokemon to be on consoles? I just want the games to take their time and be good. And this feels too fast for too little in SwSh's case in my opinion. Hopefully I'm wrong but this worries me that Game Freak isn't taking their time and is just pushing them out faster than ever. If you disagree, I respect your opinion. I just wanted to toss out my thoughts.
