Is This Tiny Find Roman? Hunting For Small “Treasure” In "Cleaned Out" Area

2024-07-12に共有
When an area has been cleaned out, iron and small, barely noticeable signals is all that’s left. Is this the case, one has to apply a different strategy, I call it “going the extra mile”. This means stepping into bushes full of ticks and hoping that this is something the “previous guy” avoided. Although, not everyone is that stupid to hunt in a forest during summer… I brought two ticks home with me as a result.

But if you find tiny buttons only, you can quickly spot a pattern and adjust the strategy accordingly. Fortunately the “1700’s people” saved the day with their buttons once again. Difficult to imagine that there were almost no finds from other centuries, as someone must have been there after 1700’s, right? I almost lost my phone for example. Other people had 200 years of time - and nothing! Strange, isn’t it?
I also found a small item with a Roman motif. I wonder if this is something added later, because somehow it's hard to believe that it's from this era.
The iron linchpin might be Roman, or medieval.

This relic hunt exceeded my wildest expectations. It was fun despite the difficulties, but that probably wouldn’t be the same if the outcome was different.

I hope you enjoyed this adventure.
Thanks for watching!

Very nice, I'm afraid I would have to hunt parks during tick season.

14:38 At least from the 1700s. Have you found so-called flower buttons in Germany? Flower buttons were used in Sweden-Finland in the 18th-19th centuries and were a very common field find with a metal detector.
  • Die "silbrige" Münze von 48:49 dürfte ein Heller aus Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld sein, vermutlich 1. Hälfte 18. Jahrhundert
  • I'm with you on getting rid of phones and everything electronic, drop some EMPs
  • Hi MD24, the piece with the quadriga on it looks like zinc. Most likely not Roman. Hopefully you have a vaccination against FSME, if not, please get one! This disease ist not fun! And what about using a repellant? Take care!
