    “I hope is lighter…” oh, honey… I haven’t heard Taylor that angry since Dear John / Would’ve could’ve should’ve
  • @Purrsephone19
This album is super emotion heavy, and i hope you take care of yourself throughout these reactions! Love you Mere!
  • I think this whole album is Taylor just shedding all the anger, disappointment, and Pain…..like therapy for her. Getting it off her chest so she can move on to the next chapter of her life. But everything she’s gone thru we all have felt at some stage of our lives….so her songs become therapy for us too. I think this album is a masterpiece of feelings that is told like poetry. ❤❤❤

That sigh was giving you a chance to get a comfort throw pillow and Stanley cup.
  • 'Jehovah's Witness suit' is very literal, it's an actual style and cut of suit (black suit, skinny cut, skinny black tie) that Matty Healy would wear often when performing. So she's literally referring to her ex's clothing here. I think Taylor, due to her anger, is being purposely direct with her call out here.
  • The lines: “Where you sent by someone who wanted me dead? Did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed?….And you deserve prison but you won’t get time…..and I’ll forget you but never forgive.” Just hits different!

This song is about Matty Healy, who apparently love bombed her and then ghosted her. It was a short romance, but they’ve known each other for 10 years, and I think she wondered about being with him.

Oh babe. “So much of my life … and I’ll never understand why” as a 40 something divorced woman I am giving some advice . Brace yourself before so long London

This song hits so much harder than many of the other ones. It's truly a work of art in the most painful way. 💔
  • This is an amazing song. "Rusting her sparkling summer" is in reference to the Eras tour last summer
  • @TheAnastyB
This song is one of the best she has ever written as well as loml, All too well level of greatness
  • Honestly when she said “you deserve prison” I really about how all that he did was like a crime against her and also had me thinking about how people get away with it, you know? Something that came into my mind was the quote from Gone Girl: “He took and took from me until I no longer existed. That’s murder.”

it’s okay, Taylor got all of us with this album 😢

Never be ashamed or not let yourself cry or scream. I used to be until my therapist said "Sometimes your heart and soul has so much of an emotion that it has to spill out" it's like those dump buckets in waterparks, it fills and fills and then gets so full and heavy that it need to dump the load so it can continue to be able to take on what's next.

Your doggy says, don't be lonely. I'm right here, I'm your friend.
  • @beapot
I absolutely love TTPD album because it is extremely raw, honest, and emotional. Taylor is a lyrical genius and so brave to share these parts of her life with us. I also thank you for breaking down the lyrics and giving us your perspective on the lyrics.

Oh my gosh does this song ever hit home. I divorced my alcoholic, abusive ex husband back in October. I went through intense emotional, psychological and physical abuse for years. And since then, his addiction has only gotten worse and he has since abandoned our daughter. So now I’m filing for full custody, dealing with the raw emotion of seeing my child’s parent willingly walk out of her life, and trying so desperately to heal. I scream and sob this song any time the feels hit. This song is my lifeline right now. I love your reactions and I truly relate to your situation. Stay strong mama. ❤
  • I love this Album!!! It has Lana Del Rey’s influence all over it. Which I think is partially why Taylor praised Lana at Grammy’s. I adore you Mere!!! Thank you!!! I love your reactions and insight!!! 🤗🤗
  • Here's my take at 'you deserve prison': Women live in a world where laws and courts are started and run and enforced by men, so the law does not adequately prosecute crimes that men mostly do to women. I think Taylor is saying in a more fair world, these crimes you did (taking me for granted, reckless drug use, leading me on and ghosting) would be seen for the crimes they are, but in the world we currently live in, men that behave this way often just move on unscathed with their lives and leave shattered girlfriends in their wake. I think this is a lot of pent up anger at multiple men acting this callous way towards her (Mayer unceremoniously left, Joe Jonas did a 27 second voicemail, Jake told her she was too young then left, now Matty ghosted), so I see Matty Healy as in some way the straw that broke the camel's back. Taylor is getting wiser and more fed up towards this kind of exploitation.
