  • Funny you said that you were excited for an upbeat song... because this song is probably the saddest song on the entire album. Its brilliant!
  • It's funny because we relied on Taylors songs when we're were heartbroken, so it must be as therapeutic for her to sing it.

“Smile even when you want to die” hit me so hard. We all need to be talking about and normalizing mental health more. No one should have to hide and repress their feelings, it’s so lonely. Would love to see a therapists perspective on I hate it here. I think it’s kind of a sister song to this one.
  • That “1,2,3,4” you’re hearing is actually Taylor’s in ear piece that she wears on stage. This is what she’s hearing the whole time she’s singing, and the song adds that bit of detail so that it would feel like she’s singing this on stage
  • I'm not a therapist but I find it interesting how the younger and older generations react so differently to this song. The younger generation thinks it's sad, while the older generation sees it as an anthem. I am older and it's more of a celebration of power to me. I've been there so so many times, and pulled myself from the pit of despair with a smile on my lips for everyone else. I now know that I'm a warrior and so is Taylor. I'm not saying the younger ones are wrong... it is sad, but it's life. What you choose to do is key... Bury your head in the sand or stand tall. I've spent many days in the fetal position crying over a shattered heart when I was younger and even some when older. Experience has taught me to pull my big girl panties up and carry on. But, I adore this song and Taylor ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is for all of us functioning depressed girlies 🎉

This is the bop that I will immortalise for my depressing days😂

This song broke my heart for her. I don't find it upbeat at all. I console myself knowing she is better now.

This one is so clever, i love the duality between the lyrics and the beat. Excited for you to react to the prophecy, peter and the black dog
  • This is an absolutely shattering song. That "even when you wanna die" is soul deep and hurts my heart for her. The fact that so called fans and the general public made her feel that she had to hide that or that she wasn't allowed to be heartbroken is so gross. Celebrities have feelings too and are entitled to feel them as much as everyone else. The expectations for Taylor to constantly release and/or do more needs to stop too. She has pretty much had to beg the world to stop. Pretty sure the "all of the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting MORE" is referring to the night one of the crowds just chanted Reputation non stop for like ten minutes straight while she was performing and had just separated from Matt. That breaks my heart for her. So glad she's putting her foot down with everyone and everything. TTPD is a big I'M DONE WITH EVERYTHING! from her and I'm here for it 🤍🖤🤍🖤
  • I saw a video of her performing where she turns around and takes a sigh and then you can literally see her snap into performance mode.

I remember being heartbroken and devastated but showing up to work with a smile, instilling confidence in people that I was going to keep them alive. No one wants an emotionally unstable person holding your life in their hands. “ lights camera Bitch smile!”

one of my favs!!!!!! so up beat and catchy but so heart shattering 😭 ugh i couldnt believe it when i first heard it. i have been waitlisted for every eras ticket drop so far and have not found a way to get tickets - my hope is dwindling but im still gonna believe i'll get lucky somehow - but with that said, watching the eras tour movie and the grainy live tiktoks when she's performing has a completely different vibe now. of course i always appreciated and respected her, but WOW my heart hurt to think about her going through these feelings while stepping on the stage and giving the unforgettable performances she does. my respect and admiration sky rocketed!! she is a true master of her craft and so resilient. it's inspiring !!

I call this the “professionalism anthem”. Everyone with a job has days when we aren’t at our best — heartbroken, low social battery, hungover, a bit sick, woke up on the wrong side of the bed, mad as hell, and the like. And yet, we still show up. Think about all the people you interact with everyday — teachers, doctors, retail employees, cashiers, bank tellers, etc. So many of them doing their jobs well, making your life easier, and moving through the world with a heart broken but you would never notice. And that’s because they lights-camera-bitch-smiled themselves to professional mode once their clock started. They have a job to do and the personal shit had to be left at home. (Don’t worry, you don’t need to feel sorry for us. The last thing I need is to mix the personal and the professional. ) At the very least, just be kind to the people helping you and don’t take your personal shit out on them. You don’t know the strength it takes them to not take theirs out on you.

this song is unreal. it speaks to so many of us for so many freaking reasons. "I cry a lot but I am so productive, it's an art" From now on when someone says "I don't know how you handle it all and stay standing, I'd have given up." I'm sending them to this song.

I am a brand new swiftie since this album came out, and this has become my favourite song on it. This song is sad, but also uplifting at the same time imo.I was raised in an era of really great song writers but she trumps them all with her amazing creativity. Her songs are just so relatable. I really should go listen to her older music, but I have been so hooked on TTPD. Nice reaction!
  • @celinem5770
She’s the queen of making upbeat songs with sad lyrics - this one reminds me of Anti-Hero, which is such a sad song imo I can’t wait for you to react to “The Prophecy”, it’s my favourite and really encapsulates everything Taylor is and struggles with and is heartbreaking
  • @nikedecke766
Honestly you could react to each and everyone of these songs, because they really all are so interesting and just touch on so complex topics. But I would especially love a reaction to Peter or The Prophecy or The Black Dog or...😊❤
  • While it’s not great to repress feelings, there’s also a time & place. Taylor’s career is obviously very important to her and while she was miserable at the beginning of the tour last year, she put on her stage face and killed it! I liken it to being a mother, you can’t fall apart in front of your kids, especially when they’re young. She’s mature enough to know the pain is temporary and there was something more important to her in that period so she did it with a broken heart 💔🫶
  • When I heard this song it reminded me of my childhood and always pretending like things are fine when they aren’t. I’ve fake smiled through a lot of events where I was miserable inside but it was unsafe to show how I really felt.
