Jonas Vingegaard has taken the world of cycling by storm. Winning the Tour de France in 2022, can he do it again in 2023? This is part 1 of our 2 part documentary series on who Jonas Vingegaard is, what makes him special and what the behind the scenes looks like.

He's recently won Criterium du Dauphine and he looks to be a beast on the climbs, time trials and with the strength of Jumbo Visma, Wout van Aert, Sep Kuss and more behind him. Can he do it?

The whole fish factory story is often misrepresented as "the kid from the fish factory who became a cyclist". But Vingegaard has actually completed education equivalent to British A Levels and only worked at the fish factory because his cycling team put him there in order to create some structure in his life. He'd work in the mornings and then train the rest of the day.

Amazing! Definitely one of the best documentaries about Jonas that I've seen. Hopefully a lot of people are going to find this during the Tour!
  • @MrBuusen
I really love how you took your time to pronounce the names in the proper danish way. Respect!

A very well produced video. I think Jonas can win TDF again .

I’m 🎉rooting for Jonas! May the Danish talent reign!
  • @poxm
    Rest in peace Gino Maeder
  • the reason why jonas was so behind in the race was because he waited multiple times on roglic when he crashed but he still managed to be right behind pogacar

Saying he did his job well as a domestique in the 2020 Vuelta for Roglic is underplaying it a fair bit. His performance that year is widely regarded as that of a super domestique; a performance that led several Danish pundits, biased as they are, to predict he'd be a GT factor in the future. Often out-riding Sepp Kuss, It was a mini break out for him that showed his super strength.

Janteloven is somehow the strict opposite of the American position. By the way, not only Danish, but a manifestation of overall Scandinavian values. Many would say that this law is limiting, but somehow it helps to combine efforts together as a group. And in this group you are free to be left or right, as long as the main goal is to lift together in mutual respect. Since some Americans don't understand this idea, they think the social democratic countries are communist areas :)
  • I like both Jonas and Pog and don't have a strong preference. Part of me feels like Pog is generally the strongest individual and I want to root for him because Jonas probably has the best team in the world helping him... but it's hard not to like Jonas.
  • Great video('s)! Really enjoying this in the build-up towards the tdf 2023. An episode about Wout Van Aert would be awesome ;)!

Amazing Video, and amazing pronunciations of the danish names! Amazing to see
  • 3 weeks after this video was uploaded and he's 7 minutes up on Pogacar about to win his 2nd tour de France
  • @bacchus2726
The fish factory work was suggested to him for a few hours a day to make a good structure getting up early and then exercise all afternoon. Now everyone talks about him as a dream come true for a poor factory worker...... How silly
  • C’mon Jonas! You can still win 2024 TdF. Remember your awesome come back in 2022 to win your 1st TDF. At Stage 11 you were 5min behind Poggi!! Yes YOU CAN!!!
  • @Berg126
Sorry to say, even if it means Jonas not will win this year, Rosa his mother-in-law, did not win the Danish bake-off, she was just a very likable character in the program
