I loved being on camera as a kid, and my mom had an entire library of VHS tapes of my childhood. If I found out that stuff was being watched by millions of people? I'd have had a straight mental breakdown. Those kids just can't be old enough to understand how many people are watching this stuff

I'm glad that you're calling out Catherine specifically - she's been flying under the radar for far too long, bc Austin is such an obvious skeaz-ball. I've thought for a long time that people were too quick to dismiss her part in all the scams - the only blameless in this family are the kiddos... those poor kids 🤦‍♀

The fact that 1212 Gateway made me immediately think of the Heaven’s Gate cult and then Catherine said she got the idea from a psychic?? I was already skeptical but that made me cautious.

the Coogan Law was named after Jackie Coogan, a child actor in the SILENT ERA. this kid legit played in Charie Chaplin films, and when he turned 21 he found out the money he made through acting had been completely spent by his parents. this kind of shady shit between parents and the money made by their kids been around since movies were invented y'all.....

Yayyyyy!!! Someone finally talking about Cathrine. She's smart enough to know that if she pretends that she doesn't know what's going on and sits quietly letting Austin take the heat, no matter what "he" does, she will still have fans. She is the safety net for Austin's insane actions.

Notice how in that video Catherine did most of the talking this time because they KNOW that their fans support Catherine more and would believe her over Austin. The reality they are both manipulative and terrible people and her act of innocence has cracked.

What’s concerning for me is selling posters of their children and the fans actually buying it!!! 🤮🤮🤮 the fans are legitimate sick and obsessed and the Austin and Catherine are beyond disgusting for doing such a thing

It’s wild to me that these parents are so removed that they’ve forgotten how embarrassing everything is when you’re 12-18. Any kid who’s parents have posted the intimate details of their childhood are going to have a rough go of it when their friends use it against them in middle school. These kids have no capacity to consent to this, I feel bad for them.

Let's clarify something: some kids love being filmed. Some kids love being on camera. But kids CANNOT love being watched by millions of people, because they have no comprehension of that. My niece and nephews love the camera, they love being filmed and having photos taken. But they love it because we then look at it together and laugh at the silly things we've done, and they can look at them when we're away from each other. If the McBroom kids love being filmed, it's because they think they're having fun with their family. They don't know its to make their parents money. These kids think Mummy and Daddy just love them and love hanging out and making memories with them. And their sick parents are banking on this innocent trust.

I'm always reminded of the interview the Olsen twins did with Oprah where she asked them about being famous as children and they said they never experienced it like that. They were just working. Always working. I think there's a reason they both refuse to be in camera now. And I worry for the children of family vloggers.

This is a prime example for why you don’t buy into the social media hype. Easy to look happy in a photo. Easy to play perfect for a camera. The real ones move in silence.

"family vlogging" can be done safely, when the content is about advice for parenting or what cleaning/cooking for a family of five is like! even occasional appearances from the kids isnt a problem. the problem occurs when the parents RELY on their children being in the video in order to get views or make money. it is not their job to take care of their parents, it's the other way around. i don't want to say "it's a fine line" because it's not lol it's a clear line.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next decade we see a wave of lawsuits from the children of family vloggers against their parents for a variety of reasons. I feel like within this next decade their may be a legal precedent set that dictates future laws about social media influencers who are underage.

On the topic of child exploitation: It's played out in front of us 90's babies. We've seen our childhood stars sink into wrecked emotion/addictive states from growing up in front of a camera. While the children may think it's fun & games rn, this will definitely impact them later on in life & it's not okay for these YouTubers to use their kids for greed. I've seen vlogs where the YouTuber included their child into parts of their videos but there's a innocence to it vs training your child to do things in front of the camera. They're icky.
