What do you think? I am an independent film maker, soon to be energy drink manufacturer with a passion for cars, caffeine, and cinematography. Place your requests below and enjoy the Trailer about the Last Ride Sedans are about to make. Scotty Kilmer and other top mechanics warned us of the quality of American brands...but it goes much deeper than that...

The most hardworking nicest people I know end up being duped into buying American car brands. Later on, any extra money they save up ends up going back into car repairs.

I remember the statement of a former British Leyland employee giving interview to Jeremy Clarkson on his 'who killed British car industry". he said - "So suddenly we had an influx of suit wearing MBAs walking in the factory who couldn't tell a nut from a bolt, telling folks who been building cars all their lives that the reason why the company is in trouble is because of them"

Everything went downhill when accountants took the leadership position from engineers

American automobile manufacturers thought engineers where overhead they can do without. Threw the internal experience away and did not back fill the knowledge vacuum. Basically upper management have non automotive background and doesn't have a clue about car engineering and the market itself.
  • 6:42 you know what's really restrictive? Having a big suv you over payed for with a knob that you use to select gears, an e brake that's just a switch that you can't even use when the car is moving, and a big screen that controls everything, has horrible build quality, and costs a fortune to replace.

Still can’t believe they threw the 2.7 in the 300 and charger.

American regulations led to car companies profiting off of SUVs and trucks do to their more relaxed fuel economy restrictions. Car manufacturers pivoted and made people think that what they needed were massive cars and trucks for their daily lives. That's why you can't see anywhere down the road during even light traffic and I hate it. Great video.

Can't blame CAFE in totality or really at all. Every other car manufacturer has thrived, and grown post CAFE

My mom fell victim to a GM Encore turbo. Mechanics did a bandaid fix because it was during covid and they couldn't get the proper parts. She flipped it on Carvana and bought a CR-V.

A lot of our Japanese and German sedans are built in the US now.

Ford used the dual cam modular 4.6 (Crown Vic engine) in a variety of models such as the F-150, Expedition, Mercury Grand Marquis , Thunderbird, some Lincolns and even the Mustang. It underwent a series of changes and redesigns over the span of a little over 20 years, but it’s always been recognized for its reliability. I’m 43 yrs old and an enthusiast who’s worked in the automotive industry for the past 23 years. Over the years I’ve seen model lines come and go.. and sometimes come back again. All of my life I’ve been used to seeing Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler cars along with their subsidiaries running the roads. There have been some good ones and bad ones, some that provided a sense of pride, some providing good memories, always looking forward to the next year model while keeping the previous model going. They all may not always have been the most reliable, but for the most part they were good cars. Today they’re all gone.. I’ve never seen anything like it. I don’t know., It’s just sad I guess.

i drive a lexus gs350 and i don't think any of the american car brands are capable of building anything anywhere near as nice and anywhere near as reliable. seriously; it's fast, it's reliable, it's simple under the hood.

My first car was a used 2001 Grand Am 2.4l. Could get 32 mpg and was fun to drive. Sold it with 327k miles when I moved out of state. Interior was cheap but comfortable. Trunk size decent and I could get parts from the junkyard or ebay. My car now is a G6 gt v6 with a standard transmission. I drive trucks only at work.

The last of the wagons now is the subaru outback... My fiance bought one and its been a great car for us. I have a 2012 honda accord. Theres something more intimate about driving the sedan. You feel like youre a part of the road as opposed to being a passenger in the vehicle.

Japanese - best cars for mpg/longevity European - fun driving/luxury cars American - family hauling and truck stuff…
  • @nickn815
Ford messed up big time on the Focus & Fiesta transmissions and what gets me is that they continued to use the dual clutch even though they knew it had problems….. hardly see any Focus or Fiesta on the road

The government made bad policy and we all paid the bill.

I think you are right, SUV's, Utility vehicles and EV's are a statement that they aren't their parents, look see modern is better. I like smaller coupe cars mostly, I have lost count of the number of times a big SUV etc will come charging up behind me, and hang just feet from behind me - and it's not like I am going slow... I recall a time I was going for a quiet drive in the country and this Ford Ranger came charging up behind me for no reason than to be intimidating. Well I was driving a BMW 135I coupe, on a stage one tune, so had 400hp, I simply pulled away till they started to have to brake and accelerate harder to try and keep up. They turned around and that was that. To this day I have no idea what they were trying to prove, I guess the power of advertising and being just one of the pack is a very strong emotive force. And yes I too have a SUV with 450hp, used mostly for picking and dropping off bigger things I buy. They have their place, but for a single person transport, are you kidding? Rant over... thanks for the video...

The domestic makers just pumped out mediocre cars for fleet and car rental sales. A missed opportunity to win over actual buyers however with positive rental experiences.
