  • Shirou is nothing but a kind hearted hero. A simple young man who wants nothing but the best for the people he meets and faces. To save people, their bodies and spirits, is all he wants. The dreamer, who wants happiness for his beloved Saber. The idealist, who fought against his own doubts in order to achieve his dream to save everyone. The broken, willing to give up his ideals of a hero to save a single soul. And the brother, who’s sister’s happiness is all he ever wanted for himself. Selfishly selfless, that’s who Shirou Emiya is. Because all he wants is for others to be happy.

I like that part of EMIYA archer that implies that he will do anything to help any Emiya that sees the error in his ideals
  • >Fourth Route Sorry Illya, even in your own story, you still get boned from your own route with Shirou, lol
  • @Saraxiify
Shirou and Julian's ideology clash in the cavern is one of my favorite scenes in Fate, great music placement in this video as well, another solid TMCS

This version of Shirou is my absolute favorite. It takes the best of all three routes and flips the idea of a selfless hero of justice on its head. Also love that Heroic spirit EMYIA both approves of this Shirou and gives full support by installing with Shirou. The Shirou and Miyu plot hits me hard in the feels.

Don’t have much to add as you already nailed most of it, but I do want to make a small correction. In addition to the influence from the EMIYA card, Miyu-Shirou is stronger than UBW Shirou because the baseline which he started from was a lot higher. UBW Shirou only became able to use magecraft properly midway through the route, and is stated to reach his full potential after 10 years of training. On the other hand, Miyu-Shirou was trained properly from the start, and thus he achieves his full proper potential. The fact Miyu-Shirou gets the inner monologues but F/SN Shirou doesn't is basically the only reason that secondaries tend to view him as being better than F/SN Shirou -- though there's also some primaries who think Shirou's relationship with Miyu is stronger than his relationship with Sakura and thus view Miyu-Shirou as a superior version of HF Shirou...I couldn't disagree more.
  • The tragedy here is that Miyu DID get to sea the ocean with Shirou. During her own birthday at that. Shame it wasn’t her brother, but Illya’s but it’s the thought that counts.
  • @DitronX
It would be awesome if he becomes a Servant on FGO, or at least a skin from EMIYA.
  • @desmondteo4316
I would call him, the very definition of a big brother. Always there to protect his younger siblings, no matter what the cost.
  • Sweet really glad that this version of Shirou is getting a spot light. Someone who in many ways is exactly yet completely opposite to date Shirou

I am the bone of my sword. Steel is my body, and fire is my blood. I have created over a thousand blades. Unaware of beginning, Nor aware of the end. Withstood pain with inconsistent weapons, my hands will never hold anything. Yet, my flame never ends. My whole body was still Unlimited Blade Works.
  • All he wanted was to take hold of something he loved, acknowledge it was real, and not lose it.
  • @lordofmelons362
My body is made of swords My heart of glass pumps blood of steel I stand unvanquished after countless battles My purpose lacks a beginning Thus it lacks an end The bereaved is alone once more Forever crushing snow underfoot on the hill of swords But that doesn’t mean my flame has died This body’s a fake, yet it’s still Unlimited Blade Works

First time I read it. Didn't think much of it as I was speed reading all the chapters. Second time saw the anime and movie and was enjoying myself. Read it one more time last year and started crying at how much detail was done for miyu and everything that happened. Probably the way i introduce new watchers to kalied is with the movie if hey hate Loli

Shirou is supporting Character in Fate/Kaleid Liner Shirou: hold my Kanshou and Bakuya
  • I'd also add how he contrasts towards illya in this story. If Shirou's entire story is basically "chasing for an ideal, regardless of it's imperfections." then illya's waaaaaaay above him in that. The entire latter fight with Julius while he's being controlled by his old creepy ancestor and they're trying to open up pandora's box is illya trying to create a way for both miyu to survive and gain the preservation of Julius's world, while all of her allies are basically sabotaging her particular methods towards reaching that goal. People who are only alive and helping illya because of her following her own principles and it working out are actively spitting on those principles during a fight that only exists to the extent that it does because of them. The contrast of it all is even actively acknowledged by Rin during the final fight with Beatrice, but nobody cares. It creates an interesting picture for me when I think back on how EMIYA is said to have died-betrayed by his own companions. illya's friends do love her, but not all of her. The very basis of her personality and aspirations that allowed them to fall in love with her and live happy lives with her beyond circumstances they felt or were trapped in isn't something they're willing to honor. That meaning, they'll take it when it's handed out, but they won't go so far as to give it out. It makes me think on how EMIYA might have died because the people he saved weren't willing to accept the full extent of who he was in spite of benefitting from that in all likelihood, and when they were faced with the full brunt of what he was, they eventually turned on him because they'd never really accepted who he was in the first place-only used it to satisfy their own desire for meaning and peace. Thus, when things reached a boiling point, or when they felt their image couldn't exist anymore when faced with the genuine article so completely, they rejected him and left him to die. Something they'd already been doing since the point they met him. You could say it's only right that someone not give their all and completely accept another's person's vision, that's only right and I'd agree with you. But I think it's something else to say you're going to do something on the terms set by a friend who will happily reject your aid (let's be honest, no matter the situation, Shirou Emiya is the last person who would force someone else to help him do anything) and then shit on those terms because it's easier for you. I really like how it's played up with Miyuverse illya executing on her dream while Shirou visibly roils and actually seems in pain when confronted with the possibility of their being a way to save both sides in a conflict-something he iconized himself in rejecting through basically every action since Miyu got captured. illya actually goes to lengths that would boggle even fate-route Shirou. Even he killed Kotomine without a sweat of hesitation if I'm recalling correctly, but illya would actually try to reason with him. This really is the illya route. She's the basis for everything at a conceptual level and it's fucking glorious to read.

a bit late but I want to clarify somethings, the kaleid series loli yuti bait didn't start until the second season, were kuro was introduced, at first it was a magical girl parody in the nasuverse and even tough kuro brought the loli yuri bait it actually make sense since she is basically a real servant in that universe just without a master and with no mana supply the only two options are to kill or do mana transfer, also her struggle in the second season is very dark if you don't let the loli yuri and pretty colors distract you of an existential crisis of a girls that was practically killed to be replaced by an almost Identical copy and then have to assume that she is the real one
  • @ivanbluecool
Oh yeah miyu verse shirou. A character i love that did the illya path we never got in a great way simialr to hf but ilyas route.
  • @shaifs5072
Like you, stories that focus on bonds resonate very strongly with me. Miyuverse Shirou is my favorite version though not the best. A manga can’t compete with a VN’s depth. It’s worse when one is a side character and the other is the main character. Miyuverse Shirou contains the best parts of FSN while keeping the frustration parts a minimum. Kaleid story is condensed and doesn’t dive into the depth of FSN so every bit of information is important. It requires me to think and put stuff together and that gives me more mental stimulation which I adore. I love the use of parallels in Miyuverse as a way to tell the story of a character. Shirou is close to going down paths similar to Kiritsugu and Archer but it gets subverted. He has a bit of all 3 routes in him. Like Fate his desires are selfish but ultimately let’s go of that desire to do the right thing. He is goal driven and determined like UBW, he won’t give up no matter what. Like HF he sacrifices everything for a single person and fights for that one person alone.
