Dolly’s version was so tender and innocent. Her humility graced every sweet note. My heart went out to her. Beyoncé should never have touched this song. Her voice lacks the humility that makes this song impactful.

There's only 1 person thats ever made me stop in my tracks & listen. I was at a pub, they were doing kareoke😂 this lady got up from her table where she'd been drinking pretty heavily with her friends. she was middle aged, plus size average looking, dressed in a plain oversized t-shirt and tracksuit pants.. but when she sang the song she captivated the audience with her hauntingly beautiful voice.. we no longer saw the person that was discribed above, but a voice of a broken soul who had lived the words of the song. you'd swear she was telling the tale of her own destroyed marriage by a person like joelene. It was an unforgettable performance❤
