  • The Ames I went to in the mid 80s had a restaurant in it. I miss the 80s.

1:21 "The name Ames remained over the entrance" <-- Perfect summary of what happened to many of the stores after they closed!

Ames was my first job when I was 16 in 1995. I remember watching this video my first day.

The opportunities in the 21st century turned out to be limited to the first few years.

If you think about it, the store fell into the discount bin after 2000.

Does not make you want to start a business... knowing you can go under anytime... Even if you know what you're doing. It mostly comes down to your reputation... If people talk bad about you, you ain't gonna last long. (Not saying this is what happened to Ames tho..)
  • Great Video! I Recently came across Ames from Chuck E. Cheese's in Essex/Baltimore, MD. I Recently Visited the Corporate Offices in Rocky Hill and Plan to Release Video of the Vacant Ames (And one Bradlees) Locations in CT. This shows when the company was still active and It's cool.
