i would like an analysis on the song played during the climax. Why Wirt's potatoes and molasses was sung in latin? what's up with the symbolism of "run/pray/hide tiny seed?"
  • @tadstrange1465
"...Early on there was an episode about an old man who made dice out of children's bones, and the children's spirits sang an eerie song from the basement to warn Wirt and Greg to leave the house." Oh...That's disturbing.

Ever noticed how the Edelwood trees are hollow? We see it best with the one the Woodsman chopped up in the first episode. The trunk is completely hollow and only the branches can be harvested for oil. Must be a way to show that the Beast's victims literally become empty shells of who they once were before being fed to the lantern. (Also if the Beast's made of Edelwood like he seems to be, he might also be literally hollow inside)

Okay I don't think Greg's dream is lighthearted, I honestly think it's one of the creepiest parts for some reason
  • @Phoenix-pb4sm
"The series was meant to have a dream-like logic..." Literally within the first episode I thought "I feel like I'm watching a dream" . And it felt like that the whole time.
  • @thatlycantomboy
“Did you recognize Tim Curry?” slams fist on table HOW COULD I NOT SEE IT
  • @zombiecat1851
Did anyone else notice that after Greg hits the woods man he steps on a tree branch and falls with his head landing on a log, both of which Greg had used to practice(as mentioned in the previous list)
  • @katzlang
Not sure if anyone noticed but I did recently: at the end of the series, when the second part of the song "Into the Unknown" plays and we get to see footage of what happens on the Unknown later, Lorna is seen holding a book that is titled "Tome of the Unknown", just like the pilot :D
  • @pLanetstarBerry
I gotta share this story. Was watching OTGW with my (now) husband. My second viewing, his first. His almost livid "THAT'S Jason?!" reaction in episode 9 made me laugh so hard we had to pause the video so I can catch my breath.
  • @cerealkiller4908
"Sometimes the scariest thing is to go home and face your problems" Is the woodsman had gone home to face that he lost his daughter, he'd known she was actually still there (This frustrates me sorry--)
  • @JoanWhack
The midwife also coughs up a fish alluding to drowning. I'm guessing this is to hint at their birth into the unknown, by way of drowning.
  • You're my hero. The OTGW fandom is so tiny, so it's great to see great-quality stuff like this! Great job.
  • @halcyon.
In the scene where the barmaid is singing about the Beast, she gives away the real truth about the Beast and the unknown. "...don't believe his lies. For once your will begins to spoil, he'll turn you to a tree of oil, and use you in his lantern..."

I loved the Highway Man dance. To me at least it's very reminiscent of Cab Calloway's singing and dancing which was used in the old Betty Boop cartoons, like Minnie the Moocher.
  • @reyanaelsea4830
My fam and I always thought Auntie Whispers resembled Yubaba/Zeniba from Spirited Away 🤔
  • @maxzur8500
Pat: alright so this episodes about a man who turns children’s bones into dice that sing CN: I think you have a problem
  • @legs2458
    I'm just too obsessed with this show ;v;
  • @ELEcomments
just remember this a 10 episode series of 11 minute shorts and theres THAT much in there that there needed to be two videos...
  • @safabekr
I have the art book! Here’s a fun fact that wasn’t covered—did you know that the giant, multifaced edelwood tree in “Songs of the Dark Lantern” was meant to represent everyone inside the Dark Lantern inn? Also, we never see anyone inside leave, which also implies that the inn is a Lantern for their own souls.

At 13:45 if you look at the moon It looks like its a reflection from underwater. ALSO showing that writ and greg are underwater.
