Sky News military analyst Prof Michael Clarke looks at why Germany is so reluctant to provide Ukraine with long-range state-of-the-art missiles.

Such weapons would allow Kyiv to inflict more significant losses on Russia, including hitting the strategically crucial Kerch Bridge, which links Crimea to the Russian mainland, Prof Clarke said.

As a German I can say: Our government is a mess.

The eastern portion of Germany seems to have memory problems with how it was under Soviet rule.

  • Helping them WIN is much cheaper than helping them NOT LOSE. The idea that dusting the bridge is ESCALATORY is ridiculous.

There is a small Bavarian town called Schrobenhausen. It produces the best white asparagus in the world. And also Taurus. Their CEO stated that until now they have not received any orders for new production. If Scholz really wanted they can supply them. Until he gets told by Biden to move, white asparagus will have to do.
  • Germany provides 3 - 4 more tines mire funding than that UK.

Because post WW2 Germany has become an impotent player in Europe

Germany has given nearly $25 billion in aid + another $20 billion with its share of EU commitments, compared to the U.K. which is at $17 billion. Just because it hasn’t donated a particular missile is no reason to criticise Germany.

This is a really unfair title to the videos since Germany has aided Ukraine more than any other nation during the last 6 months. If I was German, I would be pretty annoyed. People just think about Taurus and forget everything else.

One theory is since Germany doesn't have a nuclear deterrent (unlike UK & France) they don't want to over-expose themselves... gotta think about that one a bit.
  • He’s the German premier for goodness sake, surely he can persuade or overrule the others. Germany just seems to be happy to sit on the fence.

Last time Germany went against Russia, it didn't end well. So Germany is extra careful now

Excellent presentation of knowledge by professor Clarke, again!
  • that's rich from a country that sits on its island twice the distance from Russia that hasn't even provided half as much aid as Germany....
  • Because Russia's most decorated general Mr winter gave them nightmares they will never forget 😂
