Good morning Mark, my wife and I lost our home in the Caldor fire. The information you are providing in this updates are very important to the people that have been evacuated. While we were evacuated I spent most of the day getting info from anywhere I could. Even after we figured out that our place was lost, trying to see if our friends and neighbors were OK. Just know that what you are providing is a God send to the families going through this. KCRA was our number one source for information. Thanks Mark you are very much appreciated.

Good morning, Mark and fellow weather watchers. Nice cool breeze here at the Orchard Cottage Weather Center in Oakdale, CA. Another fire burning east of Bakersfield, the Boreal Fire, currently at about 32,000 acres or about 10% of the size of Park Fire, was also started by a car. A drove off of Hwy 178 into the Kern River, unlike the Park Fire this was a traffic accident. Driver dead at the scene. Yesterday, 3 members of the Kern County Sheriff's Department while evacuating residents were suddenly surrounded by fire. All 3 deputies were rescued. Apparently no residents were trapped. Folks when told to evacuate, do it. Bill .

Thanks Mark. I’m hoping we don’t have our first COOL weekend in a long time ruined by poor air quality. But I am also sad for all these trees and potentially homes burning from a senseless act by one person. I hope this is a one-off and not the start of another brutal fire season.
