Not enough people mention the implications of a Death Eater having the eye for a whole year. That could have been so much more impactful than it was.
  • @JeremyLeaton912
So now we need a What If series concerning Dumbledore’s Hallows. The eye(replaces the stone), the deluminator (replaces the cloak), and Hagrid’s umbrella (replaces the wand). What if Voldemort believed in the hallows and sought them all out, and Harry had to use Dumbledore’s newly created hallows to combat them?
  • @maxstone3779
Your missing one additional fact. Dumbledore would have the cloak at the time the eye was made. Dumbledore said he wanted to study it. The eye could have been made as part of the studying process to see what it would take to see through it. So the eye could have been made before Moody needed it. Also, also Dumbledore knew James as a kid. So the eye could have been made even earlier. But it makes more sense it was done when Dumbledore was studying the cloak.
  • I would love a video on how Voldemort cursing the DATDA position contributed to his own downfall!

I completely forgot that Moody got his eye after Voldemort fell. I always thought it was much earlier. Given how cautious Moody is, there's no way he would just use any old magical artifact, especially one of unknown origin to replace his eye. So at the very least he must have gotten it from Dumbledore (who else would he trust?) From that logic, Dumbledore making it isn't a huge leap as he wouldn't give Moody something he didn't 100% trust himself and the only way to do that would be to make it. Somewhat circular logic but it does make sense in context.
  • Something I just learned this year, the actor who played Moody in the films (Brendan Gleeson) is the father of the actor who played Bill Weasley (Domhnall Gleeson).

What puzzles me about the Eye is how many “layers” can it see through? We know it can see through the Cloak. We also know that it can see through clothing (He can see the socks from Dobby under Harry’s dress robes at the Yule Ball). It can also see through the floor/ceiling and furniture (he sees the boggart at Headquarters in Order). Can he (literally) see through people and their clothes? Can he see anywhere in a building? Is there a limit? Does he have to consciously think what he wants to focus on? (That sounds mentally exhausting, overstimulating, and taxing.) is this mentioned anywhere? What do y’all think?

Ok, but...how can Dumbledore see through the cloak with his plain eyes when Death can't see through it? Did he use the elder wand to permanently enhance his own vision? If so, I wonder if the fake eye he gave to Moody was really just the practice go before using the spell on himself.

I am not sold on the idea that the eye was made by Dumbledore, thou he might have helped enchanting it. However I feel like the biggest misconception is with the, "ability to Invisibility Cloaks". I don't think the eye can see beneath an invisibility cloak, it can simply see a protection spell in effect. And that may have something to do with the color blue, and how that arbsorbs light from sources.
  • @taberquigley
The delaminator was most likely borrowed to be able to put the lights out without casting spells, as Harry was going to be on trial for underage magic, which is also why they rode brooms to 12 grimould place. Although as you’ve pointed out before, seems ridiculous because of all of the magic that Tonks does when picking him up.
  • @ekong1729
This video genuinely makes me feel a lot better about Moody's eye seeing through the Invisibility Cloak. Great job!
  • @TheEddie1910
I like this much more than the „it came from Grindelwald“ thing that sometimes comes up and just relies on Grindy having one normal, but strikingly blue eye. What adds to this theory is that when Dumbledore would have supposedly created the eye, he would also have possessed the cloak so he could have tested the eye thoroughly to make sure it pierces cloaks.
  • @user-wl9bj3wg8v
One of many secrets we may or may not know from Harry Potter. Am so enjoying yall's videos😁.
  • I think the cloak and the eye are ancient magic, that’s how dumbledore could see the cloak, or know it was there, he can sense ancient magic, like he did in the cave
  • @morrigankasa570
I've always thought the eye was created by the Peverells around the time they created the other objects. But this is an interesting theory.
