Today J dives into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to explore how the story might have changed if Dumbledore had never put on the Ring, that cursed him to die a year later. Would Snape have committed to the unbreakable vow without prior instructions to kill Dumbledore anyway? Does Dumbledore survive Half-Blood Prince? And what happens to Draco?

What if Ron's spell to turn Scabbers yellow on the train to Hogwarts had been successful? Would Petigrew have stayed yellow during and after the events of Prisoner?
  • I think Snape could've talked his way out of the vow by basically saying "if voldemort wanted me to assist Draco he'd tell me to. I won't abide you questioning the dark lords decisions"
  • @jaloperuna
I can imagine the awkward situation when Harry comes back from the forest and has to tell Dumbledore that he didn't sacrifice himself, but instead killed Voldemort and Nagini and scared away all the death eaters.
  • @MrTapet
Imagine if Draco accepted Dumbledore's protection and the Malfoy family was sent to the same place where the Dursleys were. Would have been a pretty awkward arrangement, would definitely watch some of that
  • What if Harry never summoned the Knight Bus? Would Sirius tell him the truth? Would they catch Peter sooner or would he escape sooner?
  • @entelechy00
Besides Dumbledore killing Harry, Harry could also walk through the veil: Harry tells Dumbledore he needs some time to say goodbye and put things in order, but actually goes to the veil. He does it to protect Dumbledore's soul in addition to protecting the world, and so would truly be greeting death as an old friend.

As someone who lost their mother far too soon, I fully understand the emotion at that last line. It's tough, but she would want nothing less.
  • @TheRavensNest
Wow, in an instant J brought me to tears, just from his own emotion. That was an unexpectedly strong moment!
  • I'd really think that Harry casts Sacrificial Love for everyone, but meets his family at Kings Cross: Sirius, Remus, James and Lily They sit there and talk for however long they want, just to have that time together, and let Harry choose his path once again. And Harry...I think comes back. He feels happy and renewed once again to live his life to the best and move on, knowing Voldemort was gone forever and he knows that his family and friends will be with him. Always.

I like the idea of his parents holding onto him and guiding him from kings cross station through the platform 9 3/4 but that is what sends him back. I feel like leading your child across the platform is a big deal for wizard parents and they never got that opportunity and Harry never got that either. It would be a way for them to finally parent him the way they wanted 😊
  • It makes me so sad every time I hear of Harry deciding to die. Even in this what-if version it’s so touching and emotional and noble. What a beautiful story
  • Would love a "what if someone had told Dumbledore what Umbridge was doing to Harry in detention" video.
  • This might be difficult because it'd change the entire story but you should do a "what if Dumbledore hired Tom Riddle to teach defense against the dark arts" video series.
  • @dagarnertn
I love the idea that Snape secretly bakes banana bread using a family recipe. He probably sells it through a local shop in Hogsmead. I can just picture Snape wearing an apron and matching oven mitts decorated with little muffins!
  • You present two options for the unbreakable vow, but there's also a third: Snape just refuse and put Narcissa and Bellatrix out. It's not because he's a spy or anything, he's just a deatheater, he don't care about Drago and would not put his own life at risk by pronouncing a very dangerous spell that apparently even Voldemort doesn't use on his own deatheaters, as none of them died suddenly when they fail, and by intervening in a secret mission that Voldemort gave to Drago to torture him. And Bellatrix would not have found that strange, it's that Snape accepts the vow that she found strange, she was sure he would refuse the vow even before Narcissa presents the idea.
  • I love the fact that Jonathan uses the Potter Puppet Pals version of Snape’s voice it’s hilarious!
  • I really love your theories. Even this one’s great! BUT you overlooked the fact that Harry decided to hide his invisibility cloak and his wand underneath his jacket so he wasn’t tempted to defend himself. I think this would have done the trick and his wand wouldn’t have acted against it’s masters will. In the battle of the 7 Potters Harry is close to unconscious so his wand protects him. But in the woods he willingly sacrifices himself to save the wizarding community
  • @HiopX
Well Snape could also have said no to the vow under the argument that this would undermine direct order from Voldemort to Draco. And when Bellatrix tries to pin him down on it, Snape could just ask Voldemort himself if Bellatrix was out of line - or more likely suggest to Bellatrix that he'll discuss that.

i wouldve loved to see this version as a movie, sounds really wholesome harry meeting his parents at kings cross at the end. i can imagine the final scene: Albus Severus Potter sits down on the stool, Professor McGonnagall Places the Hat on him. After the Hat announces yet another Gryffindor Potter the camera sways to dumbledore sitting at the table ..smiling - The End.

What I always wondered is, if Snape contians the curse in Dumbledores hand couldn't they just cut of his hand and get rid of the curse or at least 98% of the curse. This way he could maybe live longer than just a year and he could get a magical hand like Wormtail.
