I saw this on a plane going to Perth back when you only got the one movie for the entire plane The audible gasp from all the passengers is something I will never forget
  • @jeanine6328
This is possibly the most protected plot twist in cinematic history.
  • @cjtramm8
When this came out no one would say how it ends. Best kept secret
  • @lyleorr9832
never has there been a movie that told you EVERYTHING so BLATANTLY and none of us saw it until this scene. If you say you knew, you're simply a liar. LOL
  • @dumplingshakes22
This is one of those movies I wish I could forget and rewatch it for the first time.
  • @Wayne-745
I saw this at the theater opening night and when everyone realized he was dead you could hear every jaw hit the floor.
  • @Dalarus
The best line in the movie is: They only see what they want to see. Why is that? Because that is the viewer's perspective throughout the whole move - we are only seeing what we want to see, which makes the reveal at the end so much more satisfactory.

The great thing about this movie, and why its one of my favorites, is because you get to watch the movie back a second time with a whole new perspective.

Damn, I miss Bruce. Such a damn good actor and a force on the screen. Grew up watching him from his beginning on Moonlighting. He turned out to be a legend. Well wishes to him and his family.
Amazing movie too. M. Night's best. One of the top movies of all time. Just perfectly written and completely original. Amazing idea for a movie.
  • @ljbimoore
I tell you, seeing this in theatres, the full body chills I got when we hear Cole repeat the lines, "They don't know they're dead. They only see what they want to see." Like, I am not exaggerating when I say I felt the chill go from the very top of my scalp down through my whole body. I've never been so thrown by a reveal in my life, and I don't think I ever will be again. Listening to the theatre's collective gasp and murmurings of shock was a hell of an experience.

Edited to add: Watching it a second time makes you realize why Cole was SO scared to talk with Malcolm at first. The poor baby!
  • If you were lucky enough to see this in the movie theater and not have the twist spoiled for you, it was an absolute movie moment. So special and so glad I got to be a part of that audible gasp lol
  • @16bluegoose
Finding out Malcolm was dead was definitely shocking, but I cried more during the scene where Cole was interacting with his Mom. The part where he says, “She wanted you to know she saw you dance” wrecked me 🤣😭
  • @sblagg527
Nothing like going back and seeing this film in the theater a second time with a bunch of people who hadn't seen it before.
  • @cameleyez
Never been in a movie theater so quiet when this movie ended. Stunned silence.
  • @slayerduval1
If only they watched the last scene in the car with the boy and Toni Collette. That will make you burst into tears for real.
  • The thing that I realised only after watching this a couple more times, the part where he's realising he's dead and he's on the bed after getting shot and turned on his side ... if you pay attention you'll notice right before he says "it doesn't even hurt any more" he does this weird breath that interrupts what he's saying .... THAT was his last breath, THAT was the very moment he died. She didn't hear him say "it doesn't even hurt any more" because he was already a ghost saying it. It's SUCH a subtle moment that once I realised what it was, I marvelled even more at Bruce's performance and M. Night's directing and editing.
  • My late mother literally fell out of her seat at this reveal....my channel is basically an homage to her teaching me to love movies
  • @heron6764
The only plot twist that ever got me. I was stunned....
  • @hunter5822
I genuinely love seeing good reactions to good twist endings.

This is one of the very best twist endings in all stories ever.
