Let's just appreciate the fact that Yukki's first thought to a boulder coming at her was to punch it

I don't think I've seen a magical girl fighting while transforming before. Interesting touch.

tfw u realise that the green one (sorry forgot her name) normally giggles during her transformation but after she loses her voice she doesn't giggle anymore (it's logical, but eehhh the feels)

Togo is the one kid who stands up from their wheelchair and says “I had enough” and takes their gun out of their backpack
  • It's crazy how I went in watching the show thinking it was just gonna be a cute magical girl show but it actually turned out to be one of the saddest shows I've ever watched to the point that I had to stop watching it because it made me so sad

This anime is so much like Madoka Magica. These girls slowly lose themselves; The Magical girls from Madoka Magica despair and turn into what they have been protecting Humanity from. Both really sad.

I like Togo/Washio's transformation because I think the rope that tied her up and her breaking free is resembled to her breaking out of her disability. But I dislike the unesscesary boobage shot.

I've seen people compare this to Madoka Magica, and I've also seen people telling others to stop comparing the two. I like both shows and they definitely have some similarities, but I think in YuYuYu, they kinda have it worse. At least in Madoka Magica, even if the girl becomes a witch, someone can still end her misery. In this show, it's eternal suffering.

It’s been so long since I last watched this. About maybe 3 years ago? But the transformations never fail to amaze me. This is what you call a transformation, not a light just shining through their bodies.
  • I’m 6 years late but, I really love Togo’s transformation. Mostly due to how she breaks free of the chains that wrap around her limbs, now I don’t like it bc of any “sexual” ideas I like it because it kinda shows her breaking Free of her own Disability?? Or maybe if her own weakness?? To try and help her friends. It’s touching really 💙

The hero forms remind me of RPG characters.  It's horrid to know that the more they use their Mankai, the more crippled they get.

I really hate the fanservice shots they keep doing, it's just... really uncomfortable, and doesn't at all fit the tone of the series. Not to mention how sexualizing the characters is especially creepy once they start calling out the fact that just because there's magic doesn't mean these aren't child soldiers. But apart from that, this series honestly has my favourite magical girl costumes of all time, because every single one actually looks like something you would wear into battle. There's not much exposed skin, some of them have armour, and they all clearly are made to fit the girls fighting style. And I especially love how as the system changes, the outfit style changes too - Like how in Washio Sumi, the outfits all started with those bodysuits, and looked more like robes, but after the Mankai system began they changed to match the style of the originals. Also, not everyone is in skirts!!!! Yeah, every single outfit has a flow to it, but Yuna's in bike shorts! Togo's just straight up wearing leggings! AND NO HIGH HEELS!! I'm in love with the complete lack of high heels, because who wants to parkour around fighting monsters in heels? Literally nobody, it's an awful idea. But everyone's wearing flats! Hell, I'd classify most of the footwear as being straight up boots. The only exception is Togo, and her not having shoes works wonderfully with her look and how she's moved around - it's a good visual reminder that her legs are still paralyzed.

This show was amazing and painful. I think I binged it all in one day. We really need more magical girl shows like this. ♡

I had a dream about this anime 3 years before it came out im confused about life now
  • @Orionis_Delta
The music as well as the characters remind me too much of Madoka Magica It's just so nostalgic <3

The transformation theme is what drew my attention to this anime In the first place. Not many anime can bring tears to my eyes but this one did. All 7 are my anime heroines.
  • @viperakmal
The only anime that (I've seen so far) related to " mahou shoujo type" transformation but doesn't make them naked at all before transform into their battle outfit...
  • @boomgirlbucko
I think Yuki’s first transformation was the first time we saw what it actually looks like to transform in real time
