Just a note, the Xenon are NOT an alien race, they're AI evolved from Terran terraformers.

One of those games I'm so happy to return to, even after a pause. In long save, watching the sectors change and reshape after your actions is just amazing. From peaceful water producing station up to full fleet attack on Xenon, you name it. Awesome once you go deep enough, which does take time. o7

Some of those ships gave me feels of the original X Beyond The Frontier. 0:15 is the Earth Ship from the opening scenes and 0:25 is the original X Shuttle and 0:56 is the original Xenon Mothership. Ahh memories.

I like that they are trying to make it easier for new players. I've had X4 for quite awhile now but it was always more complex than I had patience for, especially after working all day. I'll be on the lookout for the new update.

X4 is amazing. I’m taking a break from it, but I always come back!

A time travel story IN SPACE in the X universe? I'm here for the ride baby!

Another X4 DLC I am sure to buy. I love X4, though I've taken a break and know I need to relearn how to play somewhat again. It is always worthwhile though. Plan to jump back in once this is released!

Egosoft are absolutely ON FIRE here lately! They already released Kingdom End in 2023 and did a lot of optimization to get the game running noticeably better in the late game. They don't need to continue working with it, they could easily move on to X5 or an entirely new IP, but they've done surprisingly well for a small studio tackling such a massive concept as the X series. This is one game where I honestly don't mind expansions being paid. They aren't just releasing lazy BS, they're actually putting effort, and a massive amount of it at that, into the work they do.

60% off the base price is a wonderful steal that really shouldn't be missed even if there are improvements coming down the line. Either play now for familiarity or keep it in the library until patch seven and the future dlc. There are already DLC's which you could try out just to get familiar. While I own them, I haven't tried all there is to try but my favourite has been the pirate start simply because it introduces things I've never considered trying. There are story missions but you're also free todo as you please if you wish. For the most part the story missions act as tutorials on basic and advanced game mechanics players may not know is in the game. Personally I get side tracked with scanning down the hidden cargo containers that are protected by padlocks you have to carefully shoot off without exploding the cannister. Some are really tricky especially as they're floating in space so likely will be rotating after your first shot, or moving away from you. There's also space suit flight too in space and if you think you can walk along an asteroid you can. The hard part without upgrades is escapting the small gravity field so you can get back to your ship. It's nuts!

The behemoth tin can with the giant red eye(some kind of xenon/old terraformer?) has been collecting dust in the games files for ages now. I'm really excited to see what they're going to do with it!

the biggest prbolem with the game is that is so damn addictive

I haven't played X in years. But I have very font memories of all games of this series I've played yet. Edit: The model of the X-Shuttle is gorgeous. ... I might just get the game to fly this beauty. Nostalgia over 9000.

My only problem with X4 is the AI of your fleet. Xenon K easily kills Asgard when you're not flying the Asgard yourself.
  • @jmurkz
started playing X4 many times... Timelines might be the one that gets me there :)

it's not easy to get into but when u do it's one of the best space experience out there

X4 is a awesome space sim. Period. Feel bad it hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.
