Refilling a Car Battery

2023-12-20に共有
The wife's car has been cranking slower after sitting overnight. The battery charges fine but is losing voltage when not used for 8+ hours. The fluid levels are low in each cell and contrary to the title of "Maintenance Free", lead acid batteries still require maintenance. You can extend your car battery life by refilling the cells. See the links below for the parts and tools I used:

  • Good video. Try washing the cells out and adding battery acid, it can be picked up at car part stores. Adding water simply dilutes the acid. Although adding distilled water is way better than exposed plates.

Do you also have some experience in refilling of sealed lead-acid batteries ? Under the cover on the top, they also have plugs. It is also very easy to refill distilled water there. I tried it with 3 older batteries but without any success. After refilling, there Ah capacity was lower and batteries didn't work anymore after short time... I refilled only a little bit of distilled water and waited 24h before I load the battery.
  • What do you think about ozmozis based "destilled water" ? It should do the trick too. I have a question, why i fill it up with destilled water, if it have no ion - no conductivity. The acid make the trick? Thanks. Keep up the videos. I love your channel.
