I am going to tell you what I know, not what I heard. JOAN OSBORNE is the best non-Motown vocalist I have ever heard sing MOTOWN. Joan has the soul, tempo, rhythm and emotion of the music. Joan was born to sing MOTOWN.

This Movie should actually be shown in every school of the country. It's a part of US history and heritage, and one big part because this music has done more for the cultural expansion of the US than any other things.... and Joan is SO beautiful here...

Martha and the Vandellas owned it. Joan Osborne owned it. Just goes to show how fantastic this song and the band was. One of those feel good songs for all time!

The Documentary was superb and so was the Talent included. It doesn't get any better than that. Joan and the group still make my eyes water even after watching the clip for years.

60's Motown! Such happy, joyful music! No wonder everybody thinks today's music is crap! It IS crap compared to this! I was lucky enough to have grown up during this time, and I can tell you all this - giants walked the Earth in those days!
  • This clip still gets me emotional after all these years. Joan Osborne did a great job.
  • I wish that all of the other Funk Brothers would have still been alive to be able to see how much they are truly loved. Those brothers are the true American Treasure in music history.

I kept seeing the tape in truckstops several years ago and one night I thought I'd buy it. Glad I did and so was my wife as we were born in the mid 1950's and this is the music we grew up to. I've collected CDs through the years and I have them on my phone's Micro SD Card. Whenever I go walking, working around the house I listen to music from the 1930's to the 1980's. Some people are surprised that I still dance since I've had a heart attack and bypass surgery. I'm not dead yet. Dancing is just another form of exercise...
  • Until I saw the special on HBO I never knew what an absolute powerhouse Joan Osborne was she is fantastic.
