Fun fact: even though limewire was ordered to shutdown, the limewire software installed a backdoor for remote shutdown only in 2010, and that was like only a few weeks before the final software release. If you download 5.5.10 or earlier you can STILL use limewire because it’s p2p and there’s no way to police that

Lol, I worked at a construction company in their warehouse back in 2001. I downloaded Kazaa and started blindly downloading songs. I crashed their entire system and got laid off. What a great time in my life.....but it did teach me how malware can be hidden in regular files.

I was sued by NBC and actually was subpoenaed to appear in court in New York. NBC paid for my airfare so they could sue me!!! Lmfao. I actually took the free trip and just never went to the court hearing.... Thanks NBC for sending a 20 year old to and from New York for my first ever trip outside of Wisconsin!!!

Music piracy is something I almost never actually think about. When I download a ROM or pirate a film, I at least remember "oh yeah, this is technically illegal. Whatever" but with music I don't even think of that 99% of the time.

I remember when I was 10 years old and illegally downloaded Who Let The Dogs Out. I felt so horrible like I had committed a felony.

A lot of people downloaded pirated MP3s because they were sick and tired of getting screwed by the recording industry which was forever charging for the same music that customers had already paid for on vinyl, music cassette and CD. People didn't feel they were doing wrong or were hurting artists because they had paid for the music already a number of times over.
