I told myself , when I become a journeyman and own my own company I’m gonna treat everyone with dignity and respect . End that trash toxic construction culture . Nobody wants to deal with your trauma and power trips

Bro I was in the trades and I was constantly afraid of the guys that were teaching me, but it was all on me. All in my head, yes I sucked, but I had no experience your gonna suck for a bit, but just pay attention. I became a Cook instead but goddamn when I see those plumbers come in and charge 300 dollars just to have cleaned a filter in my fridge, I think damn I should’ve just stayed in the trades lol. No regrets though I love what I do

Remember why you are there learn both at work home and school pay attention write things down

Meh. I’m not strong. I’m a plumber. I make bank. She’s going to do fine. And she’s going to make a shit load of cash!
-
This happened to me so bad that I left the industry all together. It's disgraceful how alot of tradesmen treat apprentices.
-
I feel this horribly. I'm actually going to see a therapist tomorrow. Being in the trade is definitely affecting my mental health and it's been going on for a year now
-
Thats how the weak get fished out. Everyone goes thru it in the beginning til you prove yourself then you get respected. Imagine how many apprentices get taught plumbing then quit cause they can’t hang. Sometimes you just gotta try and figure it out if not you will fail…

It’s a man’s world

I’m sorry but his is exactly why women don’t do well in the trades

Its the same for guys. I was a carpenters assistant/apprentice for the summer at a commercial building site. Most if those tradesmen were anything but tradesmen. I saw the leader of the sheetrock crew deal drugs to everyone else. I saw a plumber leave his worksite long enough to use the port o poti and an electrician stole his tape measure and his coffee. I also saw those same tradesmen steal supplies; copper couplings, boxes of door knobs and hinges and other guys lunches. What i never saw was those same guys teaching the trade to thier apprentice. They had them sweeping, carrying trash to the dumpster, bringing lunch for the crew and purposely not giving the guy enough money to pay so he has to pay out of his pocket. When he got back they made excuses why they couldn't pay him back. Many of these guys were union and rarely worked and basically just goofed off all day. It was then i decided to go to college and earn my degree so i would never have to work with those kinds of *ssh*les again.

But worth it in the end

The amount of "suck it up, deal with it" comments, is so annoying. Having a mentor that isnt just screaming at you for every little thing, and is willing to teach you how to do the trade, is so massive. Thankfully i had good mentors learning carpentry, and they made me fall in love with the trade, seeing skilled carpenters work just gets me so happy and inspired. Questioned quitting the trade early on since i had some bad experiences on crews, and when i would talk to people about the issues i was having and how mentally drained i was, they would practically laugh in my face like "you thought construction would be easy, suck it up" all that nonsense. And it actually stunk and i didnt think i was built for it. Looking back, i see where i couldve been better, but i was so new to being in construction i simply didnt know what i was doing, even though i thought i did at the time. But having a mentor who is patient with you during that time is massive. And without my great mentor, whose passion for carpentry just infected me like crazy, i wouldve probably quit and definitely wouldnt have the obsession with carpentry that i do now. P.S. i know there are going to be the macho construction dudes who are going to act like im the biggest bitch who cant handle some verbal abuse. I couldnt care less, I'm not going to get offended by a YT comment, so say what you want. I just hope someone who is interested in a trade that feels a passion for it, but has had a bad experience, or is scared of a potential bad experience, can relate to this, and take some kind of lesson from this. Whatever that may be, the trades are tough, you will probably need some thick skin, and will probably need to work with some people that get on your nerves. But what makes somebody the best at their trade is their hard work, and passion for their work. And dont let some idiot take that passion away from you, because in the long run that is what you need to succeed.

Just remember guys she’s an emotional creature a man will never say “abused verbally and emotionally” like who is ABUSING ME VERBALLY? not even the boss LMAOOO
-
What’s the solution?
-
Now days kindness is in politicians speech Not in real word ....
-
It’s a cold game you either suck it up or go home
-
If it was easy, we would have women and children doing it....that's what my "mentor" taught me.
