Forester is getting an EJ20 swap!

What can make an STI swapped Forester more fun? A different STI swap! The engine that’s currently in it is an EJ257 out an USDM 2006 STI. Mike bought a JDM EJ207 v9 out of a spec C Type RA-R. This was the disassembly part, next will be the rebuild of the engine then the install!

For everybody who is swapping in a 2.0L keep the coil and wires because they can be mounted 180° backwards and you can swap cylinders 1-2 and 3-4 on the coil because it batch fires. It will save you 200 bucks and could last the life of the swap. Worked on my Subaru Baja. You use one bolt normally and make a small drop-down bracket relocation bracket for the second bolt.

Just a FYI, engine removal is not required for head gasket replacement. Ive done more than a few gravy head gaskets on these airplane engines 😅 The only real pain is removing drivers side valve cover, gets a bit tight... I work around it, but im sure jacking up the motor would make it more accessible
  • After you guys opened the engine in 100 parts , and something becomes wrong after installing back, who is responsible, Jspec or you guys Because we as JDM shop sale engine with showing compression test leak down test , customer part out and build it back , If you guys do some mistakes and Engine don’t work properly, who is responsible
