I love how the lore on Liberty's post-golden age decline explains all its weaker weapons and ships in-game as mostly a beginner zone.
  • @dareka9425
"The Bretonia, the Rheinland, the Hispania, the Kusari....the Liberty." Listening to that line as the five sleeper ships burst through the blockade of warships gave me shivers even to this day.
  • @TailAbNormal
Freelancer Alpha 1-1, you are cleared for launch. Good luck out there.
  • @ballistics343
The fact that you could play this whole epic campaign and it takes you through so much of the sector... And THEN you realize that the map has only just opened up and you've only seen half of the ships... So good
  • @HistoryGameV
Freelancer! The game that killed my highschool diploma! Was too busy all night having fun on the modded Hamburg server! DAMN this needs a remake or part 2 soooo badly...
  • @thelordz33
And here I thought Freelancer was too unknown and niche to end up on YouTube. This is literally the first time I've seen anyone talk about outside the forums
  • @TheLH86
Honestly, Starlancer was an underrated gem itself. Freelancer was rougher around the edges but it was still fantastic, with so much scope. Games well-deserving of sequels or remaster/remakes, if any are.
  • @DiamondCripple
I still use this game to judge space games, this was so influential to me
  • @sgtkasi
Freelancer is hands down one of my favorite and most influential games. It may or may not have convinced me to become an airline pilot.
  • @TheEcho112
Oh now this takes me back. Thanks for the blast of nostalgia. "Dock. Dock denied, entering queue." "What queue?" Cue random ship flying in to dock from off screen.
  • @radkovicbe
Even after exploring every system in the game, no game has ever inspired such a sense of freedom and possibilities. That anything was possible and I really could do or go anywhere. Closest I’ve ever come to that feeling was Skyrim, but this was a decade earlier
  • @Xyt_EliteMajor
Ahh, a very underrated hidden gem...even if I never played this game as a child and got it last year, it was extremely fun
  • @rexlumontad5644
sees title Palpatine: "I love democracy... I love the Republic."
  • Freelancer, you lived your life between the stars Sundancer, nothing could ever reach your heart I flew the smuggling lanes through the border worlds at war Running guns from all the freeports near the core My fortune paid by all the souls of those who died My thirty coins of silver carried back with pride I never understood the gears and wheels that turn beyond I always thought I would survive.

Spent a lot of time on the Discovery Freelancer server ages ago. Good memories. Also a personal salute to the former members of ]NTF[, especially those who are no longer with us. You are missed <3

Talk about a blast from the past. Loved this game. I'm off to rewatch it's opening cinematic in full
