Re-watching this video and realizing that I need to reward my dog for what we call his ā€œold man ruffs.ā€ If heā€™s trying not to bark, heā€™ll sort of bark under his breath and itā€™s much quieter and I can tell heā€™s really trying to get his barking under control. šŸ’œ

I LOVE this type of video! Curating clips of your older content on one topic and then adding new commentary is SO HELPFUL! Plus, you know I love the longer videos! šŸ˜Š Iā€™m sending the link for this to my parents ASAP because itā€™s a great and detailed overview of the things weā€™ve been working on. Thanks for teaching us everything we know about dogs and dog training! šŸ’œ

I've never read a book so fast! youtube.com/post/Ugkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64Pqā€¦ Learning about his dogs and experiences was just the icing on the cake - bed this book through and through. We're working with our new pup and Brandon's advise was just what I needed. Wish he'd just come and train for me haha but it's good for us and happy to have this new set of tools to use on our pup.

Great job addressing multiple barking stimuli in a brief video!

seeing your dog obey the stay command mid frisbee throw is mind blowing!

I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide youtube.com/post/UgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYā€¦ is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!
  • I love these indept and very useful videos on specific topics! Please keep them coming, they are so useful and easy to implement in everyday life :)
  • Gentle reminder: put your headphones on before you watch this video if you have a barky dog, thank me later. Me watching it for 2 mins and my dog heard all the barkings from the video, jumped up from his sleep and started barking at the dooršŸ˜… havenā€™t even got to the part where I learn how to make him stopšŸ˜‚

Last century I had a dog called Trixie. I donā€™t remember why she barked but I did come across a way to teach her to have some control of her barking. The first thing was to teach her to ā€œspeakā€ on command. (Easy bit). Then I had to teach her to stop. She didnā€™t have physical control over her barking. She would sort of hiccup as she was trying to stop the bark from coming out. I rewarded her for the attempt of course.

Oh gosh, this is exactly what I've been needing. Thank you!! ;-;!
  • Great video! Thank you for being so helpful! You mentioned you would post a video on barking due to fear and anxiety but I don't see it. I searched your page and can't find it. My dog has this problem so I would love to watch it. Thanks again!! šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Love your approach to dog training, Zak, keep up the good work! How do you handle meal times? As far as I can see, you never did a video about that, but you have so much great content, I might have overlooked it.
  • I have a dachshund who is a barker5000 machine, got him during the pandemic and he lacks in socialization and is extremely reactive. Thanks for this video, Im gonna try to apply some of your tips, pray for me lolā€¦ brought him to a school but they were not into positive reinforcement so I stopped going there.

Love your videos and have watched many, multiple times. I get much more out of the older videos of your training sessions with the dogs, than the ones where you describe methods and occasionally show clips from old training sessions. Please don't stop making the videos of the actual training sessions!

Zak, Thank you for these videos. I am a disabled Veteran who for the past 15 years has had a service dog. My service dog has just past and a week later we had to give back our son's dog that we were watching while he served in the USMC. Our sole remaining dog a little 10 pound Cotton De Tulear is heart broken. I have decided my medical condition no longer requires a SD to keep me safe so we are not looking for a new Service dog. We've decided to look and found a beautiful Wheaton that we will get one week from now. I have trained a few dogs while I was younger and your video's are a great refresher and also very refreshing with the positive methods you use. If you know of other assets or tools that could possibly help in this endeavor please let me know. I know that I am disabled and I hope this does not become to much of a task. (The reason we went with the Wheaton is her size is going to be manageable unlike trying to work with a 90 pound lab.)

Thank you. My dog has really improved at home, I can usually say ā€œquietā€ ā€œyes I saw that.ā€ But I used to take him to the park and any dog outside the car is a wild ride. I feed him treats but I have to funneling them to silence.
  • @KS-yv7tw
My dog will go to a window and bark at anyone moving outside or next door inside their home, except when we had our motorbike stolen. But apart from that, she alerts us to everyoneā€¦loudly. I go to her, say thank you, look outside, say all is fine and she can be quiet now. This works quite well.
  • Just know it can reinforce the behavior if youā€™re not careful. Love to see updates on some of the dogs youā€™ve worked with especially on older videos.
  • @HaiJosephine
I will be using your videos to help train my service dog prospect. Thank you!
