Michael Nyqvist ( the captain) a.k.a " a fucking pencil " was dying of cancer during this movie. Died in 2017, this released in 2018. Great actor rip

Submariners in real life are much more reserved and a lot more cold blooded. Commander Mush Morton of the USS Wahoo once ordered enemy soldier in life boats to be machine gunned after the sinking of their ship. He did order however that soldiers in the water should not be shot. Commander Morton is also the father of modern submarine tactics and a hero to many submariners.
