and that's why the best treatments for acne are just regularly washing your face with good cleansers, exfoliating once or twice a week and moisturizers suited for your skin type (not just any cream, for me i could only ever use gel ones. others were wayyy too oily) and you need to moisturize your skin, even if your skin type is oily because the reason it's oily in the first place is because your body overproduces oil and tries to moisturize your skin. that's why just using drying products never EVER works to try and combat oily skin, it's just gonna produce even more oil to compensate, which in turn creates acne. proper moisturization helps regulate the oil production over time. and only if it gets bad enough, only then you should go in with medicine.

I have struggled with acne for years. I had normal amounts as a teen, but it got much worse in my early twenties and did not go away on its own. From 21-25 I basically had non-stop acne, even with peelings, scrubs, over the counter stuff, moisturizing. At 25 I started a 9 month cure of Isotretoine (Retinoic Acid/Accutane). It took the full duration of the cure, but it has worked wonders. If you are struggling with severe acne for extended periods, ask your doctor.
