80's training video for Jewel grocery stores. Filmed in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst, 1988.

Backstory: I worked at Jewel during college and one my jobs was training new employees. That meant watching corporate training videos. The videos were not good, with one exception: Customers First! Now here was a true gem. The jingle, the graphics, and all these hilarious examples of terrible customer service. I would make trainees watch it multiple times. Anyways, on my last day or work, I snatched the video and now I share it with you!

“Hey, once they’re bagged, I’m done!” Hell yeah, brother!
  • That "wrong way" cashier is a hero to anybody who works retail.

When she turns into the “nice” cashier, she has a fake smile and crazy look in her eyes 😂😂

I love that the bagger has the cashier's back and rips dude's cart away that can't read the 10 items or less sign. That's true teamwork😂

"I'm sorry too lady, I've already bagged 'em!" lol

I think Joan, the store-brand Kathy Bates, is my favorite character in a training video.

Quite frankly I like that cashier setting idiots straight.
  • @DirtyZ
The bagger's Chicago accent kills me. "Would you like a CAHHHRT?" "It's not my JYAHHHB."

As someone who worked in retail for 11 years, 4:49 is the most heroic moment I've ever seen.

"HEY YOU SERVICE DESK, CAN YOU GET SOMEBODY OVER 'ERE?!"

you can still see her frustration in her eyes when she had to redo raincheck price.
  • @RubyRoks
I love how ridiculous the bad examples are, and how the good examples still come across as spiteful and pissy

I like the “wrong way cashier”. She just wants people to have their shit together when you get in her line.

I like the first version of the woman in all iterations much better

The 10 items of less "not" to do is something I would pay money to see.
  • @serious22
2:26 I love how she's supposed to be friendly but still manages to sound totally condescending😂
