I got this top handle Echo CS-3000 chainsaw for free because it's not working properly. The previous owner bought a new limbing saw because this one wasn't running right and lacked power. Let's see if we can fix it. See links below for the parts and tools I used:

*These parts can usually be obtained cheaper locally, or you can buy aftermarket parts to save even more.

  • That saw looks like it isn't that old, just had a lot of abuse and neglect from the previous owner. Nice job restoring it to good working order. Being able to obtain spare parts is the key. I bought my first saw, a Stihl 015L around 50 years ago. Maybe 10 years back, I did a rebuild on it, new main bearings which I was able to obtain locally here in Australia and I got a new carburettor, used chain cover and a few other parts that I got from a small shop in the US through the mail. I've also rebuilt two Ozito chainsaws using parts from three damaged.broken ones with a new coil for one. Parts are not obtainable for these Ozito saws, so I am still missing the air filter and air filter cover from one.
  • Excellent video! I appreciate your care and attention to great lighting, good camera angles and awesome editing. Are those cicadas I hear in the background? Cheers Mike!
  • Great vid, I had a strimmer/weed watcher like that and I did the same, it now runs like a dream.
