In this video I explain why you should avoid these 4 mistakes when joining the Air Force or the military. When we're young and it's our first time out of our parents house, we tend to go a little wild when we first join the Air Force. I want to help y'all avoid these common mistakes I see for new Airmen when they join the Air Force. Hopefully this will help those who don't like learning the hard way.

As a 20-year vet, I can say everything this guy is saying is true.
  • This video is a great break down of why Im joining in my early thirties and not at 18. I got most of these mistakes out the way in college lmao. Did all the stupid stuff early.
  • I’m a girl interested in joining the air force , only 17. I find it interesting the majority of this video actually regarded romance and love as well as alcohol, and ofc finances. The Psychology of this interests me.

I am also a 20+ yr. Air Force Vet. Absolutely ZERO lies told in this video. Very good advice. As he mentioned, definitely find an "Old Head" to give you some sound advice. (Just might save your life.)

Jody! You are right ... good advice. Keep sharing your words of wisdom. During my AF career, I saw much of what you discussed. MK, Col. Ret.

I been in the civilian workforce and out here for 14 years I’m passed all this stuff. So now I can’t wait to learn the DOD way ❤

Awesome awesome advice. 20+ years active duty taught me all that but one lesson that I wish I had learned early is the difference between a first termer and career airman and how that affects cross training. I loved the Air Force but hated my job. Didn't think about cross training until after I reenlisted the first time and by then the opportunities are few and far between. You had to be in an overage to be let out of your AFSC and that NEVER happened. So if someone goes in and isn't happy with their job, address it during the first term. Keep up the great work.
