Creamy, rich, and cozy, this Mexican Hot Chocolate is warmly spiced with a hint of cinnamon and cayenne powder, so it’ll warm you from the inside out! Made with real chocolate, this drink is beyond flavorful. I grew up making this type of hot chocolate with my mom and I'm so excited to share it with you!

  • I am Mexican and loved your recipe! I feel especially grateful that you mentioned the molinillo, piloncillo and champurrado, exalting the roots of our culinary culture. Totally correct to mention the Chocolate Abuelita, wich is the tradicional ingredient we use for this beverage. You have a very complete channel that reflects love and respect for gastronomy, that's so valuable! Congratulations and feliz año nuevo 2023! Mucho éxito!

I bought my wife your cookbook for Christmas! You have no idea how happy she was to open it!!
  • I love that you embrace your culture and don't shy away from cooking Mexican recipes. As a Mexican American, it's refreshing to see that you don't have to look Hispanic to restrict what you can cook. But yet share it with others. <3

  • I got your cookbook for Christmas, and I can't wait to enjoy the recipes through the seasons! Thank you for the new and unique format!
  • Here, in Spain, we also drink hot chocolate and sometimes pair it with "churros". If I don't mistaken, our hot chocolate is made of cocoa, sugar, flour (to thicken it up) and milk
  • I love seeing your gorgeous kitchen, equipment and the way you label your ingredients! And of course the chocolate looks amazing!

Aww you looked just like a little kid when that first sip hit 🥺Really shows how certain food and drink can take us right back to our childhoods. Have a wonderful new year and I hope you can come to the UK in 2023!
  • I’ve always relied on Abuelita chocolate until now, thanks John. You should talk more (don’t know if you have) about the Mexican influence in your life growing up. Me myself, a Mexican living in Peru. Happy new year!
