  • "Politicians don't mind starting wars, because they always send others to fight it."
  • just want to point out that during WW2, the Japanese didn't launch the attack on Pearl Harbor from Taiwan. The Japanese carriers departed from Kuril Islands, now ruled by the Russians. The Japanese did launch the attack on the Philippines from Taiwan.

My guess there is another aspect not discussed in this video - China has proven itself to be very smart about their long term strategies. Therefore, unlike Russia, it probably acknowledges that war would destroy so much valuable assets, businesses and technological developments cultivated for decades in Taiwan. War would basically make that island useless from economical perspective, making in addition tens of millions hostile citizens living there.

He concludes: ‘I see no reason the balance is interrupted’ ….. right, he and all the other experts said exactly the same on Ukraine situation 10+ months ago.
  • @jiufu
Taiwan was not used to launch the Pearl Harbour attack, Japan launched the attack from the Kuril Islands in 1941.
  • «It’s an unsinkable aircraft carrier» Also known as… a regular Airfield?
  • Having lived in Xiamen for 14 years and 64 + often visits to Kinmen Taiwan (prior Covid visa not renewed!) and reguarly WeChat contact on both sides of the Straits with the 'man in the street'......I like to listen to these "Qualified Experts" on western news channels - most maybe without not knowing where Taiwan is ....or even visited there, but appear very informative to us silent majority lapping up their media news!
  • Such news break my heart, political tension between countries in the past have overly been seen to escalate into sheer devastation. A case seen in the pre ukraine-Russia war period. May peace prevail
  • @MrSak87
Mad how this has become the new match of the day
  • they said the same with the sanctions on russia but the entire world has suffered and putin is laughing at us all
  • "It's not recognized universally as an independent state" and if say; Russia was supporting the independence of a breakaway region Sky News would say "Taiwan is overwhelmingly recognized as part of China"
  • That is a massive framed poster of Taiwan behind Sean Bell. Love to know where they bought it. I tried Amazon but the biggest they do is only 24X36.
  • There is a whole US Fleet nearby in the region swanning around . I think its the Reagan Carrier Fleet
  • This global economy seems to be working out great.
  • Common sense, once missiles are fired 3-10 minutes landing on target. Tell me which defence can react in 3 minutes
