Democratic Taiwan is living in limbo. The self-ruling island is viewed by China as a renegade province, and Beijing has vowed to unify by force if necessary. As Taiwan’s autonomy strengthens, the threat of war grows louder. But China’s military is twelve times that of Taiwan’s, and there is growing concern that Taipei isn't ready.

But not everyone thinks resistance is the wisest route to survival. On Taiwan's Kinmen Island, just 2 miles from mainland China, Guru-Murthy learns what happened the last time China’s mighty military attacked Taiwan's shores.

The fact that firearms ownership is ILLEGAL in Taiwan, with the real threat of invasion lurking over the country….absolute insanity
  • @jaycee509
"firearms ownership is illegal here"... Until your country gets invaded and it'll be too late. 1 quote I learned in my Army career and still live by is "Stay ready so you won't have to get ready"

The fact that preppers are "seen as quite eccentric" is a reflection on the oblivious unprepared, not on people who realise how quickly things could deteriorate.
  • @ybench
Wow... their comments of not fighting to "win, but to not lose" were chilling. Very inspirational folks here.

Remember that Vietnam repelled two Chinese invasions successfully. It is not about numbers or technology. It is about resilience, determination, and tactical ingenuity

10:46 he says he's never seen China invade other countries. Except when it invaded Korea in 1950 or when it invaded Tibet in 1959, invaded Burma 1960, invaded India in 1962, the Soviet Union in 1967, the Spratley islands in 1974, invaded Vietnam in 1979. But other than that..completely peaceful and never invaded anyone.

Taiwan government should be paying people to take training and sign up for reservist positions in all locations. Weapon and ammo caches should be in every neighborhood. Reservists should be allowed to buy kits to come equipped and ready to report at local stations

As a Taiwanese, I’m sad we are coping with airsoft guns instead training with proper weaponry. Both major parties are just fighting for their own interests especially the KMT, instead of the nation.

Just subbed. I haven't seen anyone else put out this perspective. I hear about Taiwan, but haven't seen reporting like this.

I pray for Taiwan and it’s people. Love you all. Sincerely from the USA.

Recoil fatigue is real and this cannot be replicated with Airsoft. Not forgetting running with operational gear which sometimes can be 10-15kg for a normal operator to carry. I really hope that these Taiwanese will not have to go through the pain of warfare.

With Taiwan, Israel, Ukraine all facing these situations, I can’t fathom how anyone continues to question the value of the 2nd Amendment in America.
  • This training is golden this would literally save thousands of lives bye small groups of armed civilians training just in case the worst happens in America we play airsoft/milsim war games pretty much just like this, team work shooting movement communication navigation medical so much training this covers great stuff guyz much respect💯🙏🔥
  • @1xm_mx1
This should be encouraged and subsidized by the government. The more they train, and more of them train, the better for Taiwan.
  • Airsoft guns are good for practicing tactics (e.g. room clearing, target acquisition, etc.). However, there’s a huge difference between operating an airsoft gun and operating an actual rifle. Just like there’s a huge difference between standing still and shooting a stationary target, as opposed stress shooting on a mobile shooting course (I.e. performing physical exercises, to exhaust one’s cardio, before running through rifle range course). I like to think that the difference between stationary target practice and stress shooting, is similar to the difference between hitting pads and actually sparring. When sparring, your opponent won’t give you time to breathe, nor allow you to brace oneself before each hit.

The weight, recoil etc of the gear can be kinda surprising in the beginning but everytime I take someone new shooting its the absolute craziness of the sounds that rock you. Even after shooting as much as i have being on a really active ranges with lots of rifles etc going off close to you it gets your blood pumping and can make alot of people fearful. They need to get some blanks or something
  • @good_or_goodnt
3:00 shooting real rounds at least blank rounds is very different from shooting pellets because you gotta take account of the recoil as well you know if you're a beginner it's hard to keep the weapon pointed accurately on target
